Bottom Line

The lower-middle-range Comfort Inn - Boston is a
budget-friendly hotel on the outskirts of the city with a convenient, free
shuttle service to the airport and metro station. A free breakfast, fitness center, and free Wi-Fi are
other notable amenities that draw couples and families to the hotel. The 132 rooms are fairly spacious and have coffeemakers and mini-fridges. However, some rooms get street noise. Travelers willing to sacrifice features in favor of a downtown location could consider the Chandler Inn, a stylish, slightly pricier property in Boston's trendy South End neighborhood.

Scene

Budget-friendly hotel with a homey vibe

This budget-friendly hotel has generic chain decor yet feels warm and comfy. Guests
step into a small lobby with cream tiled floors and patterned carpeting in shades of blue, red, and brown. Across from the minimalist blond-wood desk is a seating area with a
plush, cream-colored couch and two red armchairs surrounding a coffee table. A
grandfather clock, floral arrangements, and landscape paintings give off a homey atmosphere, while a wall-to-wall set of windows
provides natural lighting and warmth to the room. The breakfast room is more
functional in style than it is decorative with tiled floors, lamps along the walls,
and wooden tables and chairs with green accents. Couples and families are the
most common guests here due to low rates and amenities like free breakfast
and shuttle service.

Location

Within driving distance to Fenway Park, the airport, and downtown Boston

Comfort Inn - Boston is located south of Boston in the
area of Neponset/Port Norfolk which is far from the bustle of the city. To reach
downtown Boston, it’s a 15- to 20-minute drive or an eight-minute drive to the nearest
metro stop. In six minutes' walk, guests can reach a beach area near the Neponset Trail. Dining options are few and far between on surrounding streets,
making it more convenient to hop in a car to look elsewhere. Franklin Park Zoo
and William J. Devine Golf Course are both about 15 minutes' drive. Fenway Park and Quincy Market are both around 15 minutes away by car as well. Boston
Logan International Airport is a 13-minute drive away.

Rooms

Chain decor and flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and mini-fridges

The rooms at Comfort Inn - Boston have a pleasant
decor, though one that’s standard for this hotel chain. Each has a maroon accent wall, patterned carpet, bedding in shades of cream or gray with red or green accents, and mid-tone wood furniture. The framed Boston-themed photographs lend a little pizzazz, though the red armchairs appear dated in style. Each room has a flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, coffeemaker, and ironing facilities, as well as a wooden desk and leather office chair. Some rooms have safes, which are quite large providing enough space for sizable electronics and valuables.
Some rooms also include pullout couches. Rooms can be noisy, especially if
located next to the train line, and some complaints have been made concerning
mice. Sinks, which don’t have a lot of counter space, are located outside of the bathrooms, which have toilets, shower/tub combos, toiletries, and wall-mounted hairdryers.

Features

Free breakfast, shuttle service, fitness center, and a public computer and printer

Guests can arrive with the
assistance of the hotel's free shuttle service, which goes to and from Boston Logan International
Airport every half hour. The shuttle also brings guests to local hospitals and the nearest metro
station, JFK, though some complaints have been made about the service. There’s a free
breakfast buffet in the morning that includes hot and cold items, such as waffles. Guests staying long term may appreciate the coin-operated laundry on-site. A windowless fitness center provides a small space to workout with four cardio machines, some
free weights, and a flat-screen TV, though it isn’t open 24 hours. A petite business
center -- a computer and printer in the lobby -- is available as well, and there’s free
Wi-Fi throughout the property though the connectivity is sometimes unreliable.
