The UNAWAY Hotel Bologna Fiera is a business-oriented property that caters to guests attending shows and events at the nearby expo center. The long, six-story building features a silver and gray facade accented with a bright red entryway. While the lobby feels a bit sparse, there are cozy elements, like leather seating in a range of brown hues and stylish halo lighting. Decor throughout leans toward minimalist and modern, with simple lines and a neutral palette that wavers between chic and clinical. Still, the property offers what guests here want -- clean, comfortable rooms and easy access to trade shows and fairs. 

The hotel is located right off the main drag in a fairly residential area on the northern outskirts of Bologna. It isn't ideal for tourists, as it's far from the city center -- the main draw is that it's just a five-minute walk to the Bologna Fiere Exposition Center and to the Congress Center. The immediate area has a handful of restaurants and shops, but most of these will be found in the city center, about a 10- to 20-minute drive, depending on traffic. The hotel is also close to major highways, meaning guests can easily access the rest of Italy by car. Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport is a 10- to 20-minute drive, depending on traffic. The bus for Bologna Centrale, the central train station, is just a three-minute walk from the hotel and can be reached in about 15 minutes.

Guest rooms have the same modern vibe as the rest of the hotel, done in sophisticated, neutral tones. There are hardwood floors, gray accent walls and drapes, and cornflower-blue chairs that add pops of color. Coordinating artsy framed photographs complete the look. Though sleek, spaces don't feel austere, with design-conscious details like mid-century-inspired chairs and desk lamps. Unit sizes range from Classic Singles to more spacious Junior Suites. All come with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, minibars, safes, and free Wi-Fi, but kettles or coffeemakers don't come standard. Gray- and beige-tiled bathrooms have attractive, oversize basin sinks, bidets, walk-in showers, hairdryers, and toiletries. Upgraded rooms add separate tubs. 

The hotel has dining and business facilities, but there are no wellness amenities found here. There's an on-site Italian restaurant that offers a lunch buffet and a free continental buffet breakfast, generally well-liked by guests, in addition to dinner. There's also a small bar, and while it lacks ambiance, it's nicely stocked for cocktails. Guests should note that the hotel restaurant is closed in August and on some major holidays.

For guests traveling with children, kids' menus, cribs, and high chairs are available, and babysitting can be arranged for a fee. There's also room, concierge, and laundry service.
