Far from
Bologna's city center
Unattractive surroundings
The 118-room Ramada Encore
Bologna Fiera is a modern, mid-range chain hotel geared largely towards
business travelers and those in town for nearby trade fairs or conferences. The
Bologna Fiera expo venue is just five minutes away -- the hotel provides free
shuttle services -- while the location also offers easy road access to the
airport. Rooms are simple, but clean and well-maintained with flat-screen TVs and electric kettles while sleek bathrooms impress. The hotel's reasonable rates, however, are the
real draw, though only if you have business in the area -- Bologna's city center
is several miles away and this location isn't convenient for tourists.
Scene
Business and trade fair oriented chain hotel with fresh, colorful interiors
Occupying a boxy,
modern building with red brick and brushed metal paneled facade, the Ramada
Encore Bologna Fiera looks every inch the mid-range chain hotel. Through a set
of sliding doors, the reception area is similarly uninspiring, though bright,
clean, and perfectly functional. Stepping into the lobby, the scene becomes
slightly more homey, with parquet flooring, comfy sofas, and some modern sculptures.
Built in 2006, the hotel still has a newly opened feel which extends to its
colorful corridors across all four floors, and due largely to its location,
attracts mainly business guests and those in town for a conference or trade
fair.
Location
Set on busy road just north of Bologna and five minutes from the trade fair center
The hotel is
located just off a busy road on the northern outskirts of Bologna surrounded by
green open spaces, businesses, and industrial estates. Its location means very
easy access by car and it's less than a five-minute drive to the Bologna Fiere
and Congress Palace. The number 25 bus also stops right outside the hotel and
provides a frequent service to Bologna Central train station and takes around
10 minutes (from there it's about a mile to the city center). The hotel also provides
a shuttle bus to Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport with prior booking (for a
fee) which also takes around 10 minutes. Free shuttles are offered to the expo center during exhibitions and conference events.
Rooms
Simple rooms with sleek, contemporary bathrooms with slate floors and walk-in showers
The hotel's 118
rooms are simple, modern, and unfussy with wood floors, basic furnishings,
and a splash of color in the form of floral artwork. Beds are topped with
duvets and all rooms include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and electric kettles. The impressive bathrooms are sleek and contemporary with slate floors, walk-in
showers, and wall-mounted hair dryers, though toiletries are in sachet form. All
rooms are also well sound-proofed from the busy nearby road, while Comfort
category rooms also include bathrobes and slippers.
Features
Particularly good buffet breakfast free of charge
The hotel's Bistrot
RossoFuoco serves an excellent hot and cold buffet breakfast, which is included
in the rate, as well as an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner, while a lounge
bar has daily happy hour offers. Free public parking spaces can be found in
front of the hotel and at the rear there's a guarded parking lot. Wi-Fi is also
free of charge throughout the hotel, as is an Internet corner. Also free of charge
is a shuttle service to the exhibition center, while airport transfers can be arranged for a fee.
