Activities team can be too noisy for some tastes
Marine Club Beach Resort offers a beautiful, remote location with beach and mountain views, attracting couples on romantic getaways and families with kids. This mid-range property offers a saltwater pool with a bar, a kiddy pool, and an activities team that organizes entertainment -- though their evening programs can be a bit too noisy for some guests' taste. The hotel has a charming buffet restaurant with sea views, and an all-inclusive option is available, but doesn't include alcohol. The hotel’s weak point may be its 110 simple rooms, as they have a dated feel and no coffee/tea facilities or mini-fridges; the slightly isolated location may also be a downside for some, especially since the food on-site gets mixed reviews. Families traveling with children may want to look into the Hotel Riu Touareg, a big all-inclusive hotel in Santa Monica with a cute playground and children's pool with a waterfall.
Scene
Charming property with stone buildings and pathways, where couples enjoy a seaside vacation
Nestled between the mountains and ocean, Marine Club Beach Resort offers a beautiful setting for couples, young and old, to enjoy romantic holidays. Stone pathways, landscaped with natural-looking tropical plants, wind throughout the property to stone buildings with blue railings where the guest rooms are found. The small reception area is welcoming, with a stone front desk, bright green walls, woven furnishings, and a wood ceiling fan for an easygoing feel. The hotel has a rustic buffet restaurant with stone walls, a peaked wooden roof, and giant windows offering beautiful sea views. A long wooden pier with a thatched-roof gazebo offers a picturesque dining spot where guests can take in the ocean air. Guests can lounge beside the large, outdoor pool or down on the beach, where music is usually playing, and it’s not uncommon to find sea turtles.
Guests from the U.K. and U.S. should note that the resort is more geared toward Italians and Germans. The boisterous entertainment team may be too noisy for some tastes, especially in the evenings.
Location
Beachfront location on northwestern coast
The hotel is located between the beach and the mountains within a 20-minute drive of Rabil Airport. There isn’t much near the hotel except for residential housing. The village of Sal Rei, Boa Vista’s residential and commercial center, is less than a five-minute drive. Sal Rei offers a few local restaurants, shops, and nightlife, and access to a port providing inter-island ferry service; water activities, such as whale watching, are also available here. The location may feel a bit too isolated for some, especially as the food on-site can get repetitive.
Rooms
Spacious rooms with dated furnishings
Rooms are spacious, and have a simple, rustic appeal with tile floors and exposed wooden ceiling beams. Some furnishings are dated, including the faded, fabric chairs; and bedding is thin (no duvets here). All rooms are air-conditioned and have safes, TVs (some are still tube-style), and ceiling fans, but rooms do not have coffee/tea facilities, and some do not have mini-fridges. Villas are available with varying accommodations, including up to three bedrooms and two bathrooms, wicker seating areas, dining tables, and furnished stone balconies offering gorgeous sea views.
