It's light on amenities, with no restaurant or bar on-site, but there are plenty of places to dine and drink in the neighborhood. This hotel isn't right in the center of the main tourist attractions, but they're easy to get to, with two underground stations close by. Rooms and public spaces make a feature of the nineteenth century architecture and feature quirky touches to add character. It's worth noting that some rooms share a bathroom.
Scene
Gay hotel housed in 19th-century Art Nouveau building with lively design
The ArtHotel Connection occupies a floor in a late-19th-century building on a reasonably quiet, tree-lined street in the well-heeled Schoeneberg district. It's an LGBT-friendly hotel and welcomes all open-minded guests. Step inside and you'll find a small front desk in a little alcove with fresh flowers and hanging lights. The Art Nouveau century architecture is a prominent, accentuated feature in the common areas, which also have quirky touches like silver bar stools and replicas of famous paintings on the ceilings.
Location
In the heart of Berlin's trendy gay area in Schoenberg
Situated in the Schoeneberg district of western Berlin, the ArtHotel Connection is at the heart of what has been Berlin's main gay area since the 1920s. There are loads of cafes, bars, and restaurants in the vicinity, but the main tourist attractions are a bit further away. It's easy to get around the city though, with the hotel a short walk away from two underground stations at Nollendorfplatz and Wittenbergplatz. Wittenbergplatz is home to KaDeWe, the largest department store in mainland Europe. Berlin Tegel Airport is less than a 20-minute drive away.
Rooms
Stylish decor and typical amenities, including iPod docks -- some shared bathrooms
The hotel's 17 rooms are each individually furnished, but typical features are dark walls, wood floors, and art prints on the walls. They're a good size, clean, and stylish, taking design inspiration from the Art Nouveau architecture around them. Bathrooms are small and vary in style, but all are modern, with walk-in showers. All rooms have iPod docking stations, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. Rooms facing the street can be noisy. Groups can book the Studio Apartment, which is large and has a kitchen area. Some rooms share a bathroom.
