Hotel Oleana is a sexy, sleek hotel with a prime location in the center of Bergen, making it easy to reach many attractions within a 20-minute walk or less. The three-and-a-half-pearl hotel has an overall sultry and fun vibe that spills over into the rooms, which feature open-floor bathroom plans and semi-private showers. It’s tasteful for the most part, but visitors shouldn’t be surprised by semi-nude art. Without air-conditioning and some reports of bothersome noise, the rooms might not be ideal for all. Features focus mostly on food with a free continental breakfast and a Peruvian restaurant. As a nearby alternative, Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz is a charming boutique with a gym.
Scene
Sexy hotel with a major focus on artwork and funky furniture
Previously an apartment and office building, Hotel Oleana opened in 2015 and its name pays tribute to Ole Bull, a famous Norwegian violinist from the 1800s born nearby. The interiors of Hotel Oleana are strikingly modern and bold with neon colors that shine bright against a black base coat. The lobby features a front desk that doubles as a bar and a funky sitting room with colorful city art and velvet chairs in various unusual styles. Guests will find plenty of art throughout the hotel, from paintings to larger-than-life photographic pieces, some of which are semi-nude. The hotel is perfect for couples who don’t mind small rooms and might enjoy the sexy decor. Though with a city center location, business travelers often stay here, too.
Location
Central location in Bergen makes it easy to reach all attractions within less than 20-minute walks
Hotel Oleana has a centralized location in Bergen so it’s no surprise that there are plenty of dining establishments and bars on surrounding streets. Popular attractions are easily reached on foot. Byparken, a city park, is a few minutes’ walk away. Bryggen is just an 11-minute walk away, while the Bergenhus Fortress takes 15 minutes to reach on foot. The Bergen Aquarium is probably the farthest point of interest from the hotel and it takes an 18-minute walk to reach. The closest train stop takes 10 minutes to reach on foot. The Bergen Airport is a 22-minute drive away.
Rooms
Sultry rooms with open-floor bathrooms and amenities like minibars and espresso makers
The decor in the hotel’s 97 rooms are sexy and clearly inspired by rock glam with color schemes of purple, pink, and silver, and funky textures like velvet. All rooms are compact and snazzy, and slightly different in design. Overall, guests can expect wood floors, low lighting, and sultry artwork or photography that creates an overall sensual vibe. In-room amenities include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, safes, and espresso makers. Air-conditioning is not available. Depending on the traveler, the open-floor bathroom plans can either be erotic or lacking in privacy. Whether it’s deep tubs, glass showers, or tube showers with waterfall showerheads, they’re partially visible from the rooms. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided. Some rooms, especially those in the front of the hotel, may be subjected to bothersome noise from nearby bars and clubs. Views vary among rooms between Ole Bulls Pass or Floyen Mountain, and views are best among upper-level rooms with balconies.
