Bottom Line

The budget Paraiso Ten Apartments offers 154 clean and spacious, apartment-style units within walking distance of both Levante Beach and Old Town. The one- and two-bedroom units are basic and only cleaned once per week, but they do have full kitchens and roomy balconies. Views from the top floors of the 26-story building are especially impressive. The Paraiso shares a spacious pool with an adjacent complex, but lounge chairs cost extra to use. There's also a bar that serves hot food. While rates are attractive, the daily fees for Wi-Fi, in-room safes, irons, and hairdryers can add up. Parking is free but limited and not guaranteed. Lots of alternative options exist nearby, including the lower-middle-range Palm Court Apartments, which is closer to the beach.

Scene

Sometimes raucous, adult-oriented apartment hotel, popular with bachelor/bachelorette parties

This apartment-style hotel can be quite the scene, but you wouldn't guess that from its first impression. The lobby of this 26-floor residential-style property is merely a place to come and go. The real center of activity is at the spacious Paradise Corner Bar, which serves drinks and hot food. It has upscale polished marble floors and wood paneling on multiple levels, and a handsome rectangular wooden bar. The large pool the hotel shares with a neighboring property also is a popular hangout spot. There are four elevators, but past guests have complained that they're sometimes slow. The hotel is popular with British bachelor/bachelorette parties and other adult vacationers, so expect the scene to be a tad raucous at times. Groups frequently celebrate well into the night in their units and at the bar and pool. Families stay here as well, but they aren't as common.

Location

In a touristy area dominated by high-rise apartments, about a 10-minute walk from Old Town

This hotel is surrounded by other high-rise tourist complexes, with a grocery store and several restaurants and bars within a one- to two-minute walk. Walking to Benidorm’s Old Town and its bars and shops takes about 10 minutes, and Levante Beach is approximately 13 minutes on foot. Aqualandia, a water park, and Mundomar, a marine animal park, are both an eight-minute drive or 25-minute walk. The Church of San Jaime and the Balcon del Mediterraneo are a 12-minute drive from the hotel, while Terra Mitica, an amusement park, is a 15-minute drive away. It's a 41-minute drive to Alicante Airport or about an hour via public transportation.

Rooms

Clean, spacious, and simply decorated apartments with roomy balconies and full kitchens

The one- and two-bedroom apartments here are individually decorated and thus vary, but generally have simple somewhat old fashioned decor featuring light earth tones. The one-bedroom apartment we saw had white walls and beige tile floors, plus light-finish matching wood furniture and yellow floral patterned bedspreads that matched the upholstery on the sleeper sofa in the living room. Basic yet tasteful art decorated some walls. Kitchens are large and equipped with fridges, microwaves, stovetop burners, and basic appliances and utensils. Bathrooms are average sized, with tubs and hand-held shower hoses. Units typically have have two twin beds in each bedroom plus two-person sleeper sofas in the living rooms. All come with balconies that are large enough to comfortably fit a table and four chairs. Views from the upper floors are impressive, with distance ocean views with other high rises in the foreground. The apartments are spacious and generally clean, but housekeeping only changes the towels and linens once per week. The most consistent complaints from past guests include noise from the frequent bachelor/bachelorette parties this property attracts, as well as uncomfortable beds in some units. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs and toiletries, but there are fees for Wi-Fi access and use of the in-room safes. Irons and hairdryers also must be rented.

Features

Bar serving hot food, spacious pool, guest laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi (for a fee)

As an apartment-style property, amenities are limited, but there is a bar that serves breakfast items, sandwiches, pizza, and other light fare. The bar also has two billiards tables and TVs that are usually tuned in to sporting events. This hotel also has a spacious outdoor pool and a kid's pool, but lounge chairs must be rented. Free parking is available, but it’s limited and not guaranteed. The front desk is staffed 24/7, and guest laundry facilities are also available on-site.
