Bottom Line

This mid-range hotel is situated in an area rife with restaurants and shops, a block away from Levante Beach in Benidorm's Rincón de Loix District. It's a fairly simple property with lackluster decor that could use some updates, but it offers several common areas including a game room, an outdoor pool with a poolside bar, and a buffet restaurant. Half-board rates are available though food gets mediocre reviews. Some of the 147 guest rooms have been more recently renovated and feel fresher, plus they have flat-screen TVs -- while other rooms have old tube-style sets. There's a charge for safes, but rooms have free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning. For something with more features and about the same rates, check out the Hotel Deloix Aqua Center, which has extensive spa facilities and pools with water features and slides.

Scene

Mediocre mid-range hotel attracts mostly European tourists who want to be near the beach

Occupying a large eight-story cream-colored building flanked by palm trees, this mid-range hotel attracts tourists seeking a beach vacation -- mainly Europeans, and a mix of ages. Interiors are clean and polished, but boring in terms of decor: think tiled floors, creamy hues, and wooden furnishings here and there. There are several common spaces that guests can relax in, including a game room, salon, and terrace, and they all feature the same kind of characterless decor and atmosphere -- but they're pleasant enough spaces for gathering. Overall, the property is tired and could use some updates. Nevertheless, it continues to attract sun-seeking travelers on a budget who like the location near the beach.

Location

Near Levante Beach and close to lots of dining and shopping options

The hotel occupies a convenient location in Benidorm's Rincón de Loix District, about a block away from the end of Levante Beach (three-minute walk). There are several other hotels in the area, and a number of shops and dining options are within a short walk of the property. Benidorm's Old Town is about a 15-minute drive away, or a half-hour walk along the beachside promenade for those who don't mind the scenic hike. Calle Gerona, a big nightlife destination that's lined with bars, is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. For family-friendly attractions, Aqualandia water park and Mundomar Benidorm sea life park are both about a 10-minute drive away. Benidorm's bus station is about a 12-minute drive. The nearest airport is in Alicante and can be reached in about 45 minutes by car, or an hour and 15 minutes by bus.

Rooms

Simple, dated rooms with amenities like air-conditioning and TVs; some have private balconies

Rooms here are rather simple and dated, and though some might find the colorful walls and bedspreads cheery, the look doesn't suit everyone. Beds are topped with red bedspreads and some of the rooms pair this with matching headboards and orange walls. Rooms that have been more recently renovated have blond- wood furniture instead, including headboards with built-in nightstands and lamps, as well as desks. These rooms also have flat-screen TVs, while older rooms have small and dated tube-style TVs as well as older white- and orange-colored furniture. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, telephones, and free Wi-Fi, but safes need to be rented for a fee. Bathrooms can be a bit small and are equipped with either shower/tub combos or walk-in showers. Wall-mounted hairdryers and soap dispensers are provided, plus some bathrooms have bidets. Most rooms open onto private balconies furnished with chairs and tables. Views are either of the hotel's pool or surrounding neighborhood.

Features

Outdoor pool, poolside bar, buffet-style restaurant, and free Wi-Fi

Features are limited and mostly mediocre. The nicest area is the outdoor pool surrounded by a spacious sundeck lined with loungers as well as tables and chairs shaded by thatched umbrellas. There's a poolside bar with umbrella-shaded outdoor seating on the pool deck. Guests can gather in several other common areas including a game room with a pool table, flat-screen TV, computers, and plenty of seating; a salon with couches as well as chairs and tables; and a large furnished terrace. The hotel has an on-site restaurant that serves buffet-style international fare, but food here gets mediocre reviews. Breakfast is included in rates, plus half-board rates are also available. Other amenities include laundry service and car rentals. There is no parking on-site, but there is a paid public parking lot nearby. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
