Hotel Lido is a budget-friendly, 64-room hotel located on a quiet hilltop overlooking the sea at the southeastern end of Levante Beach. Rooms are basic but modern, with small flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning, and many have lovely sea views. Amenities are geared toward families and include a pool with a slide and a sectioned-off kids' area. There's also a large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and a free, if simple, breakfast. The hotel's location on a hill might present difficulties for guests with specific mobility requirements; those looking for something on flatter ground may wish to consider the nearby Hotel Brisa instead, a similarly sized property with a pool, a gym, and direct beach access.
Scene
Family-friendly tourist hotel with simple interiors and coastal views
The Hotel Lido occupies a six-story building with a blue-and-white facade that makes it stand out against the beige, similarly sized structures surrounding it. Inside, the lobby is a basic space with recessed lighting and mirrored pillars that add a bit of sophistication. There's also a small seating area with a chair and a single sofa, but not much else in terms of common areas beyond the hotel's restaurant and pool deck. Note that while there is an elevator, getting to the beach below requires climbing up a hill or taking some stairs, which some travelers find strenuous. Most guests here are tourists, and the hotel is particularly popular with families, owing largely to its kid-friendly pool.
Location
Waterfront location overlooking Levante Beach on the Mediterranean
Hotel Lido is located in the Spanish city of Benidorm, a former fishing village-turned-resort city full of high-rise hotels and a steady stream of beach vacationers from elsewhere in Europe. The beachfront hotel is located on a hilltop overlooking the southeastern end of Playa de Levante on the Mediterranean Sea. It's a 20-minute drive to Casa Museo de Benidorm, while Platja de Ponent is a 15-minute drive east of the hotel (or a 35-minute walk). The Balcon del Mediterraneo -- with lovely sea views -- and the adjacent Plaza Santa Ana are a 20-minute drive away. Further afield, La Cruz de Benidorm (or Benidorm Cross), is a lovely hilltop with a cross and excellent views of the city -- the journey takes about 10 to 15 minutes by car, plus a short walk up a hill. Factor in about 55 minutes by car to the Alicante Airport or railway station; there's also a bus between the city and the airport that runs about once an hour during the daytime.
Rooms
Basic air-conditioned rooms with small TVs; some rooms have sea views
Rooms at Hotel Lido are simple but relatively modern, with gray wood-grain furniture paired with a few cherry-wood chairs with blue upholstery and additional pops of color in the form of yellow-and-blue-striped throw cushions and bed runners. Air-conditioning and smallish wall-mounted flat-screen TVs come standard. Bathrooms are simple, with shower/tub combos and vessel sinks, plus bidets and wall-mounted toiletry dispensers. Some rooms have lovely views of the sea below.
Features
Restaurant with free breakfast, free hotel-wide Wi-Fi, and pool deck with slide and kids' area
Hotel Lido's features are aimed at tourists and include a pool deck with a small pool with a slide and a sectioned-off kids' area. A free, basic breakfast buffet is served every morning, and the hotel's restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor patio seating for lunch and dinner. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and signals are reportedly strong.
