Bottom Line

The adult-only Levante Club & Spa is an upper-middle-range hotel that's in New Town, a 10-minute walk from a long sandy beach. The 186 rooms are some of the largest in the area and feature decent amenities such as free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and minibars. But bathrooms show signs of wear and need a good scrub. The spa, complete with a hydrotherapy section and treatment cabins, is the highlight here, but the hotel also offers a well-equipped fitness center, three bars, and a buffet restaurant with average food and optional all-inclusive plans. Those looking to spend the day by the pool should note that there aren’t enough loungers for everyone. The Flamingo Oasis next door has a bit more atmosphere and nicer rooms, but allows kids.

Hotel Levante Club & Spa – Adults Only

Scene

A soaring adult-only hotel

Housed in a skinny brick red and white building, Hotel Levante Club & Spa is one of the three tallest properties in the area. A set of glass revolving doors opens onto the eye-catching rounded front section of the lobby, which features a soaring glass wall overlooking the grounds, an exterior glass elevator, and a skylight. This results is a bright, appealing space that leaves a great first impression. With a wide array of on-site activities and an adults-only policy, the Levante Club & Spa could be a great option for a relaxing vacation, but despite its potential there seem to be a number of drawbacks. For instance, the pool deck is a pleasant sun trap, but the morning dash can be annoying; the restaurant has huge windows and a varied menu, but food tends to be lukewarm and is just average; all-inclusive rates are available, but the basic plan offers mediocre drinks.

Location

In a neighborhood full of restaurants and a 10-minute walk from the beach

The Levante Club & Spa is located in an area in Benidorm known as the New Town, just outside of the waterfront and the boardwalk. Far from being a quiet nondescript area, the neighborhood is full of restaurants, bars, and shops, as well as dozens of other hotels. There's a supermarket just across the street. Benidorm’s main beach is a 10- to 15-minute walk away, and there are several other sandy beaches within a few minutes’ drive from the hotel. Altea, known for being somewhat quieter and more upscale than Benidorm, is a 20-minute drive away. The main bus station in town can be reached by car in just under 10 minutes.

Rooms

Huge, bright rooms have nice amenities but average bathrooms

The Levante Club & Spa has 186 large rooms, including 166 Standard units for up to three guests, 18 Club Premium Rooms, and two Suites. All rooms feature flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, balconies with at least two chairs and a table, air-conditioning, and minibars. Club Premier Rooms offer additional perks such as electric kettles with free tea and coffee, robes, and larger terraces with two loungers. Suites have separate living areas, huge terraces with outdoor whirlpools, and free minibar items. Generic wooden furniture, thin bedspreads in brown and pastel blue hues, and cream-colored walls make decor a bit plain in Standard and Club Premier units, but floor-to-ceiling windows let in lots of light add some warmth to the space. Bathrooms are spacious and have separate showers and tubs, but most are a little tired and could use new taps. Past guests have complained about spotty housekeeping practices and minor wear and tear.

Features

A pool, a fitness center, a spa, a buffet restaurant, and meeting rooms

This hotel may not be as chock-full of amenities as some other all-inclusive resorts, but it does offer an array of things to do on-site. The pool is a pleasant spot for a quiet morning in the sun, with loungers, a handful of parasols, and a nice snack bar; just be aware of the morning dash to secure a lounger for the day. The hotel offers two indoor bars, including a nightclub with nightly shows and a lobby bar with a piano and floor-to-ceiling windows. The cheapest all-inclusive plan includes mediocre beverage offerings, so expect to pay more for better booze. All-white decor, burgundy walls, and huge windows make the buffet restaurant appealing, although food gets mixed reviews and tends to be served lukewarm. The hotel has a spacious spa with hydrotherapy areas, a steam bath, and treatment cabins. There's a well-equipped fitness center complete with a spinning room. Meeting rooms, free Wi-Fi, and parking (for a fee) are also available.
