Scene
A large family-friendly resort with tropical details
Housed in a 25-story gray tower, the Flamingo Oasis is similar to (if a little older looking than) its immediate neighbors, except for the huge flamingo painted on the side of the building. The lobby is one of the hotel’s most striking features, with three-story high windows letting in tons of light and an indoor garden with huge palm trees. There's a small stream with a wooden bridge and a ceiling made of wood that rests on enormous wooden pillars. The glass-enclosed exterior elevator takes guests to their rooms, while a gleaming cream-colored staircase leads to the reception area, located on the mezzanine overlooking the lush garden. As a hotel that caters to families with young children, the Flamingo Oasis offers a wide array of kid-friendly amenities. However, those looking to spend some quiet, kid-free days in the sun can book a Club Room, which offers access to an adult-only rooftop area complete with a pool and a lounge.
Location
In an area filled with restaurants and shops; a 10-minute walk from the beach
The Flamingo Oasis is located in the area of Benidorm known as the New Town, which is a little away from the waterfront and the boardwalk. Far from being a quiet nondescript area, the neighborhood is full of restaurants, bars, shops, and dozens of other hotels. Benidorm’s main beach is a 10- to 15-minute walk away, and there are several other sandy beaches within a few minutes’ drive from the hotel. Altea, known for being somewhat quieter and more upscale than Benidorm, is a 20-minute drive away. The main bus station in town can be reached in just under 10 minutes by car. Parking is free at the hotel.
Rooms
Bright and clean, with contemporary decor and up-to-date amenities
The Flamingo Oasis has 398 rooms in categories ranging from Double to Family Rooms. Despite the name, Double Rooms have a maximum capacity of five guests, with a double bed and two sofa beds, as well as the possibility of adding a cot or a crib. Family Rooms have an additional twin bed. Decor is cute and contemporary with laminate floors, bedspreads in pastel colors, purple curtains, and dark and light brown furniture. Transparent plastic chairs and wallpaper with silver stripes and delicate geometric patterns add some style. All rooms have flat-screen TVs (although there is a deposit for use of the remote control), air-conditioning, and hotel-brand toiletries. Safes, Wi-Fi, and mini-fridges are all available for a daily fee. Club Rooms are located on the top floors of the hotel and offer a couple of nice perks, including free Wi-Fi. Balconies are set with four plastic chairs and a table, along with a clothes rack for drying towels and swimsuits. Past guests have complained about maintenance issues, such as the occasional smell of sewer in lower floor rooms.
Features
Two pools, a kids’ club, two buffets, a fitness center, and dozens of daily activities
Amenities at the Flamingo Oasis are plentiful and appeal to guests of all ages. The main pool deck has two pools, including a freeform options for adults and a smaller, shallower pool for kids. During the colder months, the hotel also offers a heated indoor pool. Housed in a palapa adjacent to the main outdoor pool is the snack bar, offering fast food and drinks included in the all-inclusive plan. For larger meals, guests can choose between two buffets during peak season, one of which has a kids’ section. Additionally, there are two other bars, including a nightclub with live shows and a bar in the lobby. The comprehensive entertainment program offers dozens of activities, such as fitness classes by the pool, archery, mini-golf in a rooftop area, and yoga.
