Flamingo Beach Resort

In the often raucous Benidorm on the Costa Blanca, Flamingo Beach Resort is a lively but relatively calm adults-only property that generally attracts British guests in their 30s and 40s. The hotel's latest renovation was completed in 2015 and the space has a consistent theme in its decor: white, bright, and crisp with pops of color found in furnishings and aqua pools. The masonry and glass tower has terrazzo and marble floors, cove and coffered ceilings, and contemporary furnishings in black and white with dashes of cobalt and red. The lobby, with a reception desk under blue pendant lights, has a sleek white bar with white, illuminated columns. The outdoor terrace is set with canvas and woven lounge beds with throw pillows placed under rectangular white umbrellas. The restaurant, including a show kitchen, is white with black and red molded plastic chairs. One of the two pools is half moon-shaped and includes beige mesh loungers on its pool deck. The other, dubbed the "chill out" pool, is more traditional, rectangular in shape and surrounded by loungers and umbrellas. It's an understated look for a largely understated crowd. Beach cover-ups are popular; walking around in bathing suits is not. Kids and guests on bachelor or bachelorette parties are not welcome here. 

Flamingo Beach Resort is located at the edge of the city of Benidorm, in an area of hotels and apartment buildings. To reach the Disco Benidorm tram stop, it's an 11-minute walk. It's a 13-minute walk to the popular Levante Beach. The old town of Benidorm is 15-minutes on foot. It's an eight-minute drive to Aqualandia, a tropical-themed aquarium. Terra Mitica, an amusement park, is a 14-minute drive. Golf Bahia is a 14-minute drive or 65 minutes on the train. To reach the Parque National de Serra Gelada, it's a 16-minute drive. The beautiful Les Fonts de L'Algar is a 43-minute drive. Alicante Airport is a 41-minute drive or 62 minutes by bus from the hotel. 

The rooms at Flamingo Beach Resort are adequate in size and tastefully furnished. The headboards, desks, and closets are made of limed wood. Bedding is white with blue and green accents in the pillows and throws; sleeping arrangements may include pull-out sofas. Petite, glass-top tables are paired with Eames chairs. There are sliding doors, with sheers and blackout drapes, that lead to a terrace with contemporary deck furniture and views that include the pools, city, and mountains. Amenities in all rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, irons and boards, iPod docking stations, and free Wi-Fi. Most rooms also offer kitchens with full-size refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and toasters. Some guests complain that there is neither cutlery nor dishes. The few rooms without kitchens have a mini-fridge and an electric kettle. The bathrooms are crisp with dark gray tiles and small counters with vessel sinks. Walk-in showers are outfitted with rainfall showerheads. Hairdryers and nicely packaged toiletries are included. The hotel offers accessible rooms for guests with mobility issues. 

Travelers considering Flamingo Beach Resort should pay close attention to its website since a variety of packages with different details are offered. The adults-only hotel has an all-inclusive rate whose basics include a room with a kitchen; all-day, buffet style dining in the main restaurants; free Wi-Fi; and use of computers, fax, and copy machines. Guests may also use the two pools and whirlpool for free, and there are free classes in yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi. There are also free bikes to borrow.
