Apartamentos Luxmar is a budget hotel that's popular with many of Benidorm's young tourists. It's a decent choice location-wise, with shopping and dining is just a few minutes away on foot -- and the beach at a 10-minute walk. The common spaces are excellent for this price point -- there's a bar/restaurant serving fast food all day, and a large lounge with games, TV, and vending machines. There's an outdoor pool, too. However, the 80 apartments are in dire need of attention, with shabby furniture and a general run-down feel. Travelers willing to sacrifice the communal lounge could check out Acuarium II Apartments where rates are lower and rooms are fresher.
Scene
Bugdet apartment hotel with a student-feel
Apartmentos Luxmar, as with many apartment hotels in this area, is in a high-rise block with a basic finish. It's aimed at the many groups of young holidaymakers that head to the resort every year. Unlike some hotels though, it has a decent-size lobby with vending machines, a bar, and pool table. Sofas covered in throws create the impression of student digs, and essentially that's what it is. Guests kick back here in the early evening before heading out to nightlife, and the fast food menu is generally well-received, but otherwise there are few people around. It's a place to lay your head and shower, and not a lot more -- perfectly adequate for its young clientele.
Location
Central location with shopping and dining steps away, and a 10-minute walk from the beach
Aparthotel Luxmar is set in the center of Benidorm, between the parks and entertainment of Rincon de Loix and buzzy downtown. The street is mainly home to high-rise hotels, but it's a two-minute walk to streets lined with shops and restaurants. It's a 10-minute walk down to the sandy Levante Beach, and its accompanying beachfront strip. Getting to nightlife on Avenida de Mallorca, or The Square, is fairly straightforward at a 15-minute walk or five minutes in a cab. Aqualandia water park is a five-minute drive, while the theme parks at Terra Mitica are about 15 minutes away by car. The nearest airport is Alicante, which is a 45-minute drive.
Rooms
Shabby apartments with large balconies, separate kitchens, and living rooms with sofabeds
The apartments here are a bit of a disappointment -- they're worn and feel rather run-down. It's a shame as they're a good size. All have twin-bed bedrooms, separate kitchens, and living rooms with sofa-beds. Bedrooms feature wardrobes with hanging space and safes, and the kitchens have microwaves, stovetops, kettles, toasters, fridges, and sinks. The lounges are connected to kitchens by a hatch, and have dining tables with seating for four, plus TVs. There is no air-conditioning. However, there are large furnished balconies accessible from both the bedrooms and living rooms. Bathrooms have shower/tub combos with shower curtains, and towels are supplied, though there are no toiletries. Past guests have complained about a lack of hot water.
Features
Large lobby lounge with a bar/restaurant and games, plus an outdoor pool
Apartmentos Luxmar has features for budget-focused young guests. The large lobby lounge area has a bar/restaurant that serves breakfast and fast food dishes all day. There's a pool table, arcade, vending machines, sofas, TV, and a coin-operated internet station. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby, though it's pretty spotty. The front desk has lockers available to rent for a small daily fee. Opening from the lounge, there's an outdoor pool on a sunny terrace with a separate kids' pool, loungers, and some table seating. It's a city hotel, and the pool is often shaded by the many surrounding high-rises.
