The Oxford Hotel is situated right in downtown Bend, in an area with lots of little boutiques and restaurants. It's about a five-minute walk from the celebrated Deschutes Brewery pub. Sunriver Resort -- which offers bike trails, horseback riding, and a small shopping center -- is a 25-minute drive away. Mount Bachelor takes a half-hour to reach by car. It takes around 45 minutes to reach Smith Rock State Park, an iconic high-desert wilderness area known for its gigantic namesake rock formation and excellent rock climbing. The Redmond Municipal Airport takes just under a half-hour to reach by car. Portland is just over three hours away.

All rooms have organic pillow menus and eco-friendly comforters and bedding, plus flat-screen TVs, iPod alarm clocks, microwaves, mini-fridges, safes, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. Bathrooms are large, with walk-in rainfall showers and separate tubs. Big glass countertops are stocked with large bottles of natural toiletries.
