Bottom Line

Tetherow Lodges is a four-pearl golf resort located just outside the Central Oregon city of Bend. It offers 50 rooms and suites with modern decor and fireplaces, many of which also have balconies and lovely views. For groups, there are also eight vacation rentals complete with patios and whirlpool hot tubs. Amenities are great for business travelers and vacationers alike and include a long outdoor pool, a high-end fitness center, and a decent choice of dining options -- and there are plenty more places to eat within a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Travelers wanting to be within walking distance of the breweries, shops, and restaurants of Bend may feel isolated here, however, and should look into more central alternatives such as The Oxford Hotel, located right in town.

Scene

Upscale golf property set on an 18-acre course; popular with business and leisure travelers alike

Tetherow Lodges is spread across a series of quintessentially Pacific Northwest dark-wood buildings, on a large golf course, with lots of room to move about. There's ample seating (and a couple of fire pits) on the hotel's large outdoor patio, and on cooler winter days guests can congregate in the lodge-like lobby, complete with tables, chairs, and a centerpiece stone fireplace. The property attracts both business and leisure travelers, along with golf enthusiasts, and though it's slightly more geared toward adults, lots of families stay here, too.

Location

Hillside location just south of Bend, under 10 minutes by car from shops and dining

Tetherow Lodges is located outside of Bend, just south of town on a hill with lovely views of the nearby area. It's about a 10-minute drive from downtown Bend, where most of the city's boutiques, quaint restaurants, and popular breweries are located. It's around seven minutes by car to the Les Schwab Ampitheater, which hosts concerts and other events, as well as to grassy Riverbend Park and the charming Old Mill District, where a great choice of restaurants, shops, and entertainment await, including a cinema complex. It’s a 27-minute drive to Sunriver Resort and about 45 minutes by car to Smith Rock, popular with rock climbers. The ski slopes at Mount Bachelor are 30 minutes by car, as is Redmond Municipal Airport. The airports in Eugene and Salem are approximately two-and-a-half hours away. Portland is a little more than a three-hour drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Variety of rooms, suites, and vacation homes with contemporary decor and lots of perks, including loaner guitars

Tetherow offers rooms, suites, and vacation homes for rent. Most rooms have either two queen beds or one king and the majority of these rooms have views out over the resort's golf course or the Cascade Range in the distance. Corner rooms are also available and many have balconies. There's also an 1100-square-foot (102-square-meter) Junior Suite for up to six people with a separate living rom and a bedroom plus a wet bar. Both ADA and dog-friendly rooms are available. In addition to rooms, Tetherow offers eight home-like vacation rentals, each of which has five bedrooms and five bathrooms and all sorts of perks ranging from outdoor patios with sofas and fire pits to large hot tubs. Decor is on the plain side, but still pleasant, with simple wood-finish furniture and a neutral color scheme that's livened-up by the use of striped throw cushions and mid-century modern chairs. All units come with high-end amenities including coffeemakers, safes, gas fireplaces surrounded by basalt stonework, and terrycloth robes. As an interesting perk, the property also offers free loaner guitars. Bathrooms are simple, with granite countertops, vessel sinks, and walk-in showers. Hairdryers, makeup mirrors, and toiletries are provided.

Features

Sprawling 18-hole golf course, extensive fitness facilities, long outdoor pool, multiple restaurants, and event space

Tetherow offers all sorts of great features that are especially attractive to tourists and those looking for a relaxing getaway. One of the highlights is the resort's on-site 18-hole championship golf course, which features a mix of dunes, grass, forest, and brush against the backdrop of the Cascade Mountains. There's also a huge fitness center with all sorts of cardio and weight-training equipment, and personal training and group fitness classes are available. Alternatively, the outdoor pool is long enough to swim laps and there's a small whirlpool hot tub off to one side as well as lots of lounge chairs with umbrellas for those who would rather relax. Active guests can arrange area excursions through the hotel, with all sorts of outdoor activities available, from rock climbing to mountain biking. Dining options include The Row, a gastro-pub with 12 beers on tap and a wide a la carte menu available from early morning until well into the night. For something more upscale, Solomon's offers fine dining on Wednesday through Sunday evenings. There's also a cafe with sandwiches and simple meals plus coffees and smoothies. For corporate guests and wedding parties, the hotel offers a number of event spaces, including a pavilion with retractable glass doors, a banquet hall, and a couple of smaller meeting rooms. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there's lots of free on-site parking as well as a few charging stations for those driving electric vehicles or Teslas.
