Bottom Line

The Pine Ridge Inn is an upper-mid-range all-suites hotel situated off the road that leads from Bend to Mount Bachelor, with views of the Deschutes River. The 20 suites have king beds and queen sofa beds, and some have whirlpool tubs and/or canyon views from their large furnished balconies. There aren't a lot of amenities, but guests are greeted with a free glass of local microbrew or wine and all rooms have growlers that can be filled at local breweries. A free hot breakfast is served daily, but guests are on their own for lunch and dinner. While the hotel is convenient for visiting Mount Bachelor, those wanting to be right in Bend may prefer the Wall Street Suites, a 10-minute walk from the city center. Wi-Fi is free.

Scene

Cozy, all-suites boutique popular with vacationing couples

The Pine Ridge Inn is a small boutique that looks out over the Deschutes River. The lobby features knotty-pine floors, unfinished light-wood railings, and a couple of leather chairs that face out on a large area rug, giving it the intimate feel of a bed and breakfast or a mountain lodge. Guests, many of whom are couples, are greeted with a free local draft beer or glass of wine. This is a well-maintained property right on the Deschutes River that provides a cozy alternative to the hotels in and around downtown Bend. The atmosphere overall is relaxed and a touch romantic.

Location

On the road to Mount Bachelor, overlooking the Deschutes River

The Pine Ridge Inn is located on Mount Bachelor Drive, right on the Deschutes River. The cute, quaint downtown of Bend is a 10-minute drive away. Sunriver Resort -- which offers bike trails, horseback riding, and a small shopping center -- is a 25-minute drive away, as is Mount Bachelor and the Redmond Municipal Airport. Portland is just over three hours away by car.

Rooms

Variety of suites, some with whirlpool tubs and/or canyon views

The Pine Ridge Inn offers both Standard and Deluxe Suites, all with huge furnished balconies and some with river views, plus an enormous Deschutes Suite with all the fixtures of the Deluxe Suites plus two patios and a wet bar. All rooms have king beds, queen sofa beds, gas fireplaces, coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and microwaves. Deluxe Suites also have whirlpool hot tubs and separate living areas. Decor is consistent throughout rooms and includes tan-and-black patterned carpets, brushed velvet sofas, and a mix of medium- and dark-wood furniture and accents. All rooms come with growlers that guests can borrow to fill up at local breweries and pubs. Wi-Fi is free.

Features

Limited amenities include free hot breakfast and access to the local river

Amenities are limited at the Pine Ridge Inn, and while there is no gym or pool, there is direct access to the Deschutes River Trail from the hotel. The property lacks a restaurant for lunch and dinner, but guests can count on a free hot breakfast served daily in a simple, modern breakfast room with wood floors. Parking and Wi-Fi are also free. On check-in, guests are offered a free local microbrew or glass of wine.
