Bottom Line

The Bend Three Sisters Inn & Suites is a bright, well-maintained budget hotel on an unattractive stretch of highway, a short walk or drive from downtown Bend. The rooms have generic decor, but all come with microwaves and mini-fridges, and some suites have multiple bedrooms and kitchenettes. Amenities include a seasonal outdoor pool with a hot tub, a free continental breakfast buffet with hot waffles, free Wi-Fi, and a meeting room, although there's no gym. Compare rates with those at the Wall Street Suites, a similar motel-style spot with sleeker room decor.

Scene

Two-story budget motel with open lobby and family- and pet-friendly facilities

The Three Sisters Inn is a typical, two-story roadside motel but without the stereotypical seedy ambiance; the lobby is bright and airy, with a few gray sofas and a wooden reception desk, as well as brochure racks, a coffee station with a cooler of Pepsi drinks for sale, and an Internet corner with a single computer terminal and a printer. Pets are welcome at this budget hotel, and its large rooms make it a popular spot with road-tripping families.

Location

On an unattractive stretch highway across from a strip mall, close to Bend's quaint downtown

The Three Sisters Inn & Suites is located on NE 3rd Street, part of the larger main highway that runs through town. It's an unattractive road lined with strip malls; the one across from the hotel has a Safeway, Starbucks, sub sandwich shop, and hardware store. The much cuter, quainter Bend downtown area is a 15-minute walk or three-minute drive away. Sunriver Resort -- which offers bike trails, horseback riding, and a small shopping center -- is a 25-minute drive away, while Mount Bachelor takes half an hour to reach by car. The Redmond Municipal Airport also takes about 25 minutes to reach by car, and Portland is just over three hours away.

Rooms

Simple, clean, motel-style rooms and suites, all with microwaves and mini-fridges

The motel has an array of rooms, ranging from Double Queen Rooms with two queen beds up to large Family Suites with two bedrooms and a total of three queen beds as well as a sofa bed. All rooms have microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers, and Family Suites also have kitchenettes. The clean, motel-standard decor is consistent throughout the rooms, with wood furniture and headboards, generic watercolor wall-art, and flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms have separate vanity areas with granite counters and shower/tub combinations with toiletry dispensers.

Features

Seasonal pool, year-round hot tub, free continental breakfast, dated meeting room, and free Wi-Fi

The hotel's amenities are kept in good repair, and there is a concrete patio with a whirlpool hot tub that stays open throughout the year; an average-size swimming pool is only open in summer months. A free buffet breakfast with cereals, fruits, juices, basic baked goods, and hot waffles is served daily in a wooden-floored room. There's also a small meeting room with basic equipment and decor that, while well maintained, appear a couple of decades past their prime. Wi-Fi is free, as is parking, and there's a small Internet corner.
