There are 360 suites at this four-pearl property set within a large holiday complex. It’s a stylish, family-focused hotel with lots of facilities on-site, including a spa, playground, game room, and four restaurants. The suites are huge, with two bedrooms and a living area, plus a large bathroom and balcony. Many guests stay here for the excellent beach club, which has a water park and sports courts, and is just a five-minute walk from the hotel. It’s not ideally situated for access to sights and nightlife, though, as it’s a 20-minute drive from Benalmadena and Fuengirola. Those traveling without kids may prefer Holiday Hydros -- a more romantic property in the same complex.
Scene
Family-focused hotel with contemporary style
Part of a complex of holiday resorts along this stretch of coast, Holiday Village Hotel is one of the more contemporary mega-resorts on Spain's Costa del Sol. The lobby of the hotel is impressive, with an enormous atrium and huge wood and glass structures that make guests feel as though they are inside of a giant contemporary pyramid. There is attractive and comfortable rattan furniture set out around a central water feature, and an ATM, vending machines, and tourist information leaflets lend the place a true family-holiday vibe. The resort is fairly large, with a huge selection of dining options on site, as well as a massive pool with a kids' area. The majority of guests here are British, to the extent that some staff speak little Spanish but fluent English. Most are families traveling with young children -- couples looking for a tranquil, romantic get-away will want to look elsewhere.
Location
Fairly isolated, set between Benalmadena and Fuengirola
As a self-contained resort amongst a complex of other resorts in Spain's Costa del Sol, Holiday Village is fairly isolated from any surrounding sights or activities. It’s located between the towns of Benalmadena and Fuengirola, and is a 20-minute drive to both. Most guests who stay here rarely leave the resort during their vacation, if at all. It’s not too difficult to get around, though, as there’s a taxi stand and a bus stop right outside the hotel. The property shares the beach club facilities with the other hotels in the complex, but Holiday Village is located closest to it, so it’s just a five-minute walk from the property, whereas those at other hotels need to take a shuttle bus. It takes 25 minutes to drive to the Malaga Airport from the hotel.
Rooms
Spacious and stylish Junior Suites
There are 360 rooms in Holiday Village, and all are Junior Suites. They are stylishly decorated in neutral shades with pops of bright orange and have air-conditioning and a flat-screen TVs with satellite channels. Walls are hung with simple line drawings that feel fresh and modern, and dark wood veneer furniture with exaggerated wicker accents is contemporary. There are two separate bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with bunk beds or another double bed, plus a separate living area with a small dining table with chairs. Proportions throughout are very generous. There's a huge amount of closet space, an enormous balcony with a table and chairs, and massive bathrooms. Each bathroom has a separate bath and shower, double sink, toiletries, and hairdryer. There are soft square and mosaic tiles on the walls and soft colored marble floors. Toiletries are provided.
Features
Large beach club, excellent dining options, and free Wi-Fi zones
As with the other hotels in the complex, many guests stay at the Holiday Village for access to the excellent beach club. There are waterslides, waterfalls, and wave machines, plus soccer, tennis, and basketball courts. On-site, the hotel also has a large outdoor pool plus separate kids' pool, a children’s playground, game room, cinema, supermarket, and spa. The spa has an indoor pool, hot tub, treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, and fitness center. There are plenty of dining options at the Holiday Village too. The buffet restaurant is the main dining establishment, but guests have a choice of Mexican and Italian a la carte restaurants and an American Diner. All-inclusive and various board options are available, and there is plenty of space to dine or drink inside or outdoors. There are also two snack bars, an Irish pub, and a piano bar. The hotel also provides a dinnertime theater and nighttime entertainment in season. There are free Wi-Fi zones dotted throughout the property, but in-room Wi-Fi is subject to fees. Self-service laundry is also available.
