The 56-room Park Avenue Hotel is a small four-pearl property run by the same family for four
generations. Located in the east of the city, it isn't particularly convenient for local tourist attractions, but it's a five-minute drive to George Best Belfast City Airport. The on-site restaurant is a fine-dining destination opened in 2015 by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White, and is popular with locals. Decor here is contemporary and off-beat; individually decorated rooms are
spacious with luxurious bathrooms while suites offer extras such as gas fireplaces, whirlpool bathtubs, and iPod docks. But rooms don't have minibars, and the free Wi-Fi connection can be a bit slow. A cooked-to-order breakfast and parking are both free. For a property located in the city center, travelers may prefer the contemporary Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast.
Scene
Contemporary, four-pearl hotel popular with business travelers
Located
on a busy main road in the east end of Belfast near the city airport, the four-pearl Park Avenue Hotel
occupies a modern-looking building with a glass-fronted restaurant
area and a large parking lot surrounding the property. The interiors
have a surprising, eclectic look, decked out in brown, beige, and
gray striped carpets, gray Damask wallpaper, faux wood-paneled
hallways, and plush velour-covered armchairs and sofas. The hotel
attracts many business travelers during the week with its conference facilities, while leisure
travelers, mostly couples, choose to stay here for a
weekend getaway. The on-site restaurant -- opened in 2015 by celebrity-chef Marco Pierre White -- attracts many locals, as does the on-site bar.
This is also a popular venue for weddings.
Location
Located a five-minute drive to Belfast City Airport, but not near tourist attractions
Park
Avenue Hotel is located in a residential area in the east end of the
city, an eight-minute drive to
the city center. There are several restaurants in the area, a
few shops, and a local pub. George Best Belfast City Airport is
located close by, just a five-minute
drive away.- Five-minutedrive to George Best Belfast City Airport
Rooms
Spacious, contemporary rooms and suites with luxurious bathrooms
Park
Avenue Hotel's rooms are large, and each is individually decorated in an
eclectic style of brightly colored or patterned wallpaper,
contrasting carpets, and contemporary furniture. The
Junior Suite has silver and white patterned wallpaper plus gray and white spotted
carpeting, that contrasts with black furniture and white
upholstered sofas and armchairs. The Executive Double Room has a bold design with gold-patterned wallpaper, navy
blue and yellow striped carpeting, and a bedspread with spiral
designs. In contrast, the Superior Double has more
toned-down colors of brown and beautiful oak furniture. In general the look is elegant, though some of the patterns and colors have a dated '90s air. And some past guests have complained of chipped furniture, stained linen, and the lack of blinds.Bathrooms are spacious and luxurious, decorated with elegant tiling
in shades of beige or brown. The Standard Rooms have shower/tub
combos, while the upper category rooms feature whirlpool bathtubs, as
well as large separate showers with rainfall showerheads. All the
rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, 35-inch flat-screen TVs,
free Wi-Fi, and coffee- and tea-making facilities -- but no minibars
or mini-fridges. The suites include extras such as gas fireplaces, separate
living areas, flat-screen TVs in the bathrooms, and iPod docks.
Features
Free made-to-order breakfast, celebrity-chef restaurant, bar, and free parking
The
Park Avenue Hotel is a small hotel with few extra features and
amenities apart from the free breakfast buffet, on-site restaurant,
bar, and conference rooms. There is no fitness center, business center, or spa. Breakfast, which includes a buffet table and
made-to-order dishes, is free but gets some mixed reviews. The
on-site restaurant, Steakhouse Bar & Grill, was opened in 2015 by
celebrity chef Marco Pierre White, serving French-accented British cuisine prepared using local produce. The restaurant is
popular with locals, and room service is available during regular
restaurant hours. The in-house bar, Gelston's Corner Bar, is
also popular with locals and serves light meals. There are 16
conference rooms available for meetings and events, with the largest
suite accommodating up to 250 people. Parking is free in the
hotel's large parking lot. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the
property, but the connection can be slow.
