Scene

Contemporary and pleasant hotel in a trendy hood for a mix of travelers

Hotel Sant Antoni makes a nice first impression, with a glossy red reception desk that takes up most of the lobby, which gets flooded with light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. A long, white couch and an armchair are set along the wall toward the back of the narrow space, where there's also a computer workstation. The equally bright breakfast room is the only other common space, done in a similar contemporary style with red accents. Most of the guests here are leisure travelers, but the quiet atmosphere and on-site amenities draws some business travelers as well.

Location

In L'Eixample, near Sagrada Familia and the metro, but far from most top attractions

The hotel is in the L'Eixample neighborhood, a quiet, pretty area with homes interspersed among shops, bars, and restaurants. It's home to the city's best examples of modernist architecture, including the Casa Milá building and Sagrada Família Cathedral, both designed by Antoni Gaudí. In addition to its eccentric architecture, this district is known for a vibrant nightlife scene, with many trendy bars and clubs, especially in a section commonly known as Gayxample. The property is a six-minute walk to Sagrada Familia, and about an 18-minute walk to Gaudí’s Casa Batlló and Casa Milá buildings. The nearest metro station, Monumental, is three minutes away on foot, and guests can reach the Plaza de Catalunya in 14 minutes by public transportation. Barcelona – El Prat Airport is about a 23-minute drive.

Rooms

Contemporary decor, flat-screen TVs, well-stocked minibars, plus kettles and free Wi-Fi

The same contemporary decor found in the hotel's common spaces carries over to guest rooms at Hotel Sant Antoni. All have wood or tile floors, neutral walls, and dark-wood furniture with red accents. Headboards with articulated reading lamps sit above twin or double beds (some rooms have two twin beds pushed together), and built-in bedside tables. Some triple rooms are available and there's a rooftop Double room with a large outdoor furnished terrace. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, electric kettles with free tea and instant coffee, safes, and well-stocked minibars. Small seating areas have tiny tables with single white chairs, and there are wall-mounted flat-screen TVs. Free Wi-Fi is included. Bathrooms are streamline, and most have walk-in rainfall showers, while others have shower/tub combos. The decorative flowers and welcome drinks aren't typical of the average guest experience.  Album titles are misleading at best, the hotel has no queen or king beds. Room categories are more like Twin, Double, Triple, and double with terrace (not pictured).

Features

Free afternoon coffee and tea and computer workstation, but fee for breakfast

The hotel offers a sizable continental breakfast buffet for a fee (unless booked directly) in a bright room adjacent to the lobby. In the afternoon, there's free coffee and tea available through the evening. There's also a computer workstation with a printer, a 24-hour reception desk, laundry and dry cleaning services, (fee), and a vending machine. Parking is available for a fee, but Wi-Fi is free throughout.
