Housed in a former theater, the Hotel Acta Mimic is a boutique with a youthful, modern vibe. Quirky furnishings in vibrant hues brighten up communal spaces, but small guest rooms seem more stark than cozy. They offer few furnishings and the only natural light available comes from the bathrooms, which are separated from the bedrooms by curtains instead of doors. A funky outdoor dining area and lovely rooftop terrace (albeit unfinished) are pluses, as is the hotel's close proximity to the bustling Las Ramblas pedestrian mall. Certain streets in the immediate vicinity are a bit seedy, however, so guests should ask staff for the best routes before setting out on foot.

A central location near the southwest end of Las Ramblas, and close to the port and public transportation
The Hotel Acta Mimic is in Poble Sec, a mostly residential area near Barcelona's Port that's part of the Sants-Montjuic district. The proximity to Palau de Congressos convention center makes it convenient for business travelers, and it's located right on the neighborhood's main drag, Paral.lel, where a few small, local restaurants can be found. Las Ramblas, Barcelona's most popular thoroughfare, lined with restaurants, bars, and shops, is within walking distance. There are also two metro lines near the hotel (Drassanes and Parallel).Guests should be warned: the alley known as (Calle) Arc del Teatre -- which leads straight onto Las Ramblas from the hotel -- is a little seedy.
