Hostal Alogar

Hostal Alogar is located on one floor of a residential building that’s around 50 years old. The lobby is a small space, with a wooden reception desk, a payphone, and an umbrella stand. The room is a little dark and the decor is dorm like. A glass cabinet has some Spanish trinkets which guests are welcome to buy, and there are some tourist information leaflets available too. Otherwise, communal areas are compact, and there are a few chairs in the TV room for anyone looking to hang out outside of their rooms. The guest house tends to attract tourists who are on a budget and want to experience life in one of Barcelona's authentic, local neighborhoods. However, similar rates and features can be found closer to the center of the action. The property is also close to the Barraquer Clinic, a private eye hospital, so many patients of the hospital choose to stay here too. 

The property is located in the district of Sarria-Sant Gervasi, around 15-minutes from Plaza Catalunya by train. It’s a quiet and safe area that's a mix of residential buildings and quaint streets. The area is best for travelers who want a taste of real local life, and those who want to escape the crowded tourist core of Barcelona. There are several bars and restaurants within the neighboring streets, from traditional Spanish tapas restaurants to sandwich bars, as well as artisanal shops and boutiques. The Corte Ingles Shopping Center is also just a five-minute walk from the property. Muntaner RER station is a five-minute walk away, and there are also several bus stops within a five-minute walk. Barcelona–El Prat Airport is a 20-minute drive, or over an hour by public transportation.

The six rooms at Hostal Alogar are available as Single, Double/Twin, or Triple Rooms. The style is utterly simple and varies from room to room, though everything modern enough, with wooden headboards, tiled or wood-laminate floors, and bright accent walls in some rooms. Many of the rooms are on the small side, and some have small windows too which leaves them a little dark. Other have a small sitting area in addition to the bed. The Single Rooms share a bathroom, while the others categories have a private en-suite bathrooms. All rooms have basic amenities that are limited to air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi -- keep in mind that there’s no TVs. Closet space is limited. Bathrooms are on the small side as well, and some are more modern than others. Some bathrooms have a shower/tub combo, while others just have a shower cubicle. Don't expect much in the way of counter space, though toiletries and towels are provided.

Being a basic guest house, there are few facilities at the Alogar -- guests will not find a bar or restaurant, for example. There is a communal kitchen for guests to use that has a sink, stove, microwave, and cooking utensils. Each guest room is allocated a cupboard within the kitchen to store their food. There is also a communal TV room, which has some sofas, magazines, a computer station, and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV for guests to use at their leisure. Car rental is available on-site, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
