Hesperia Fira Suites is an upscale property with 52 one- and two-bedroom apartments located in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, a suburb southwest of Barcelona. The property includes two buildings, separating the suites from the standard hotel facilities in an adjacent tower. Set in a new business district with supermarkets and cafes, the hotel is convenient for business travelers: The metro, which is a few minutes' walk away, reaches downtown Barcelona and Fira Barcelona trade fair facility within 20 to 30 minutes. The location, however, is not ideal for tourists. Apartments are cozy and stylish, with full kitchens and living rooms, and modern decor in soothing earth tones. There's an on-site Mediterranean restaurant, and the hotel offers a free shuttle service downtown and to the airport. Guests preferring to be in Barcelona proper could consider the similarly luxurious apartment hotel Majestic Residence, located in the major shopping and business area of Paseo de Gracia.
Scene
Colorful and modern with a business clientele
The hotel is set within two modern cement-and-glass buildings that nod to the business traveler clientele. Just outside, there's a small reservoir circled by a dirt walking path, benches, and a little playground with a lawn area. The entryway consists of nothing but a few cement planters. Sliding glass doors lead into a comparably brighter and cheerier lobby, with a large skylight illuminating pale wood walls, glossy black tile floors, and modern orange chairs. Hallways, too, are stylish and colorful, with the occasional purple couch offering a cozy spot to sit and read. Other common areas include the Critics Restaurant, a cool space with modern white chairs contrasting with an orange accent wall and bar. The TV and Internet room has a similar look, with sleek orange furniture, teardrop-shaped white lamps, vases with bamboo, and a marled black rug -- along with a flat-screen TV and a desk that can accommodate four.

Hesperia Fira Suites is located off of a busy road in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, a new business district southwest of Barcelona. The immediate area offers plenty of cafes, shops, and supermarkets, and the hotel runs a shuttle to the city center a few times a day. Otherwise, there's a metro station within a few minutes' walk of the hotel, offering access to downtown Barcelona within a half hour, and Fira de Barcelona trade fair center in about 22 minutes. The airport is a five-minute drive away, and the hotel also offers a free shuttle mornings and evenings.
