The Palace oozes elegance and Old World charm. Housed in an early 20th-century building a few blocks from the Gothic Quarter, the hotel is popular among well-heeled families, couples, and business travelers. The property boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant, Caelis; car service to the airport and major attractions; and a small but modern fitness center. The exclusive spa features the only Temazcal sauna in Spain, Anne Semonin products, and traditional Maya treatments. Classic, elegant rooms have upholstered walls, plush beds, and modern bathrooms with separate showers and tubs. Some even have Roman bath-style tubs. Updated in-room amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, DVD players, and free Wi-Fi. But there are no coffeemakers in the rooms, and you should expect to pay a hefty price for breakfast.
Location
On the eastern side of Eixample neighborhood, a couple of blocks from the Gothic Quarter
El Palace Hotel is located in Eixample, an upscale neighborhood north of the Old City (or Ciutat Vella). There are restaurants, boutiques and major attractions within walking distance of the property, but maybe what makes this location attractive is its proximity to the beautiful Gothic Quarter, which is the center of the old city and one of the largest remaining "Gothic Quarters" in the world. The area boasts tons of historic buildings, with everything from the remains of Augustus's ancient temple to Els Quatre Gats, the restored pub that served as a main meeting spot for Modernists at the turn of the century. But perhaps the most visually stunning buildings are the many cathedrals. However, the area around the hotel is also home to the city's best examples of modernist architecture, including the Sagrada Família church designed by Antoni Gaudí. In addition to its eccentric architecture, this district is known for a vibrant nightlife scene, with many trendy bars and clubs found here, especially in the gay section (which is popularly known as Gayxample). There are four subway stops within three blocks of the hotel.- 20-minute drive to El Prat International Airport
