The two-and-a-half pearl, Barcino 147 is a homey bed and breakfast spread between two buildings in the leafy Eixample district of Barcelona. Conveniently located near the city center and many tourist attractions, the B&B is great for low-key, independent tourists looking to explore Barcelona. Owned by an artist and art collector, Barcino 147 is filled with richly colored decor and Romantic-era paintings. While many of the hotel's 12 guest rooms share bathrooms, there are also suites and full apartments for more privacy.
Scene
Art-filled B&B done up in the rich, colorful aesthetic of the Romantic age
Barcino 147 is an elegant, richly decorated B&B split between two historic buildings. The owner of the bed and breakfast is an artist and art collector, and his passion has shown through in this property. Walls and furniture are done up in deep, richly hued jewel tones, and the B&B is decorated with ornamental ceramics, carved wood cabinetry, and Romantic-style paintings. Despite the welcoming air, common space is rather limited. There is no common living room and the kitchen/dining room feels rather cramped when someone cooks. Fortunately, larger rooms have sitting areas, creating spaces to relax while at the B&B. The hotel primarily attracts low-key tourists who appreciate the prime central location.
Location
In the heart of Barcelona, on the Gran Via, within walking distance of many sights
Barcino 147 is conveniently located in the touristy part of Barcelona's leafy Eixample district, right on the Gran Via. Tourist hotspots like the Plaza Catalunya, Las Ramblas, and Passeig de Gracia are only a short walk away, and the B&B's proximity to several metro and bus lines makes it easy to get anywhere in the city. Eixample is a lively part of town and there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars within walking distance.
Rooms
Unique and vibrant, some with full kitchens, others with shared bathrooms
Rooms at Barcino 147 range in size and amenities. Some of the smaller rooms, such as the Ibiza Room, are a little awkwardly shaped thanks to the building's age. Larger rooms, such as the Cadeques Room, have more space and sitting areas with leather couches. Some rooms share bathrooms in the hall, while others are multi-room apartments with full kitchens (and ensuite bathrooms). No matter size or layout, all rooms share a rich color palate -- deep reds, blues, and yellows -- and are decorated with carved wooden furniture, often antique or inspired by historic designs. Romantic-style artwork hang on the walls.
Features
Free breakfast and Wi-Fi
Like most B&B's, Barcino 147's best feature is its free continental breakfast. There are few other amenities, but Wi-Fi is free and there are computers for guest use in the kitchen/dining room. Some rooms also have full kitchens.
