The nearby neighborhood is gentrifying
This modern hotel with sleek decor has a convenient location within walking distance of La Rambla and the port, with the Parallel metro station literally right outside the door. There is a rooftop pool and solarium, though the surroundings aren’t quite so posh. While it offers a decent value for its location, some guests think it lacks the luxuries of a true four-pearl property. The nearby neighborhood is considered up and coming and might not suit all guests.
Scene
Sleek, modern decor
Behind a sleek facade is a spacious lobby with a clean, modern look in black, silver, and dark wood. There are plenty of couches and armchairs for lounging, in the hallways and the lobby, where two Apple computers on a long wood table face floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto the street.
Location
Walkable to many tourist attractions, metro stop right outside
The hotel is on the busy Parallel Avenue, with the Parallel metro stop right outside the door. It's about a 10 minute walk to La Rambla, though some guests don’t recommend walking on the side streets in the gentrifying Raval neighborhood. It’s a 20-minute walk to the Plaça de Catalunya and 25-minute walk to the Port Vell. Via the metro, it’s 15-minutes to the Sagrada Familia and a 20-minute ride to the Park Guell.
Rooms
Clean, spacious, and modern; some have terraces
The hotel’s 167 air-conditioned rooms are spacious and modern with hardwood floors, minimalist wooden furniture, and comfortable beds that sit flush with charcoal grey walls or sleek dark wood paneling. Rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and safes. The bathrooms in the standard rooms have toilets, bidets, hairdryers, and shower/tub combos. Guests might have a challenge reaching towels; they are perched on a high shelf above the tub. Superior Rooms and Skyline Suites have jetted tubs and stall showers. The unremarkable views include apartments with laundry hanging out to dry. The terraces of the superior rooms and suites sit behind the letters of the sign for the hotel, which is either cool or unsightly, depending on your taste.
Features
Rooftop pool, gym, solarium, and a buffet restaurant
Amenities include a small rooftop pool, rooftop gym, and solarium with Astroturf and lounge chairs. The Medea restaurant offers a buffet breakfast and dinner and the hotel also has a fairly spacious business center.
