Bottom Line

This modern boutique hotel outside of the city center is notable for its attractive infinity rooftop pool and sleek style. Guests also enjoy the free Wi-Fi and drinks at both the lobby bar and pool. The 84 streamlined, contemporary rooms all have peek-a-boo bathrooms (with built-in privacy screens). All in all, B Hotel is a decent value for a three-pearl hotel and a good choice for business travelers, but leisure travelers can find comparable properties closer to the sights, such as the EuroPark Hotel.

Scene

A modern boutique hotel in a business-centric neighborhood

The B Hotel immediately impresses with its clean, modern design, which is evident throughout the entire hotel. The reception area is a bit bare, with just a front desk and computer station, but the bar provides a communal area for guests to lounge, and features chic, streamlined chairs and sofas mostly in creams, light woods, and grays.

Location

Located on one of Barcelona's main avenues and close to metro stations

Situated in Barcelona's Sants district, the B Hotel is between a 15- to 30-minute ride away via public transportation from many of the city's top attractions: Plaza Catalunya, the Ramblas, Paseo de Gracia, the beaches of Barcelona, and Camp Nou. The metro is easily accessible from the B Hotel, with one station a five-minute walk away and several others within 15 minutes by foot. In the immediate area, guests will find Fira de Barcelona (which hosts trade shows), Joan Miró Park, and the Las Arenas, a bull-fighting ring that was converted into a shopping center. The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc is about a 10-minute walk away, and it’s about 15 minutes to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.

Rooms

Stylish, modern rooms with peek-a-boo bathrooms

Compared to many other hotels in Barcelona, the rooms at B Hotel seem spacious. Add in the stylish, modern decor (picture big wood headboards, floor-to-ceiling windows, and trendy floor lamps), big flat-screen TVs, and all-around cleanliness and it's not hard to understand the appeal. All have peek-a-boo bathrooms, with shower/tub combos separated from the bedroom by a glass partition, but a privacy screen is built-in. The 84 rooms come in three categories: Standard, Superior, and Deluxe. The main difference between room categories is size and location in the building. Deluxe Rooms, for example, are brighter and located on corners. But there are a few flaws; most notably, the sound of traffic and some leaking of shower water onto the bathroom floors.

Features

A rooftop infinity pool and hot breakfast buffet

While the hotel may be a three-pearl property, its stand-out feature -- the small rooftop pool and terrace -- is something a traveler might find at a higher-end hotel. The pool area is a great place to grab a drink, as is the lobby bar. Wi-Fi is free, and the breakfast buffet (included in some rates) includes hot and cold items, including omelets, bacon, fruit, meats, and cheeses.
