The House is an eight-room boutique B&B offering a home-like experience in a residential part of Lisbon. Rooms are modern and chic, but their amenities vary and only some have TVs. Two have bathrooms across the hall and one has a bathroom without a full door separating it from the sleeping area. A tasty breakfast with eggs made to order is included in room rates. There’s also a big outdoor terrace with river and city views, and in inclement weather the views can still be
taken in from the living room. Guests wanting to stay nearer to the action of the city may want to check out the Lisbon Short Stay Apartments Baixa, a vibrant hotel with funky decor and a convenient location near shops and restaurants.
Scene
Family home turned chic B&B
The House still belongs to the descendants of the building's original owner, who built the property for his family of eight. Today, the
three-story hotel’s rooms are named for their original purposes, and there's a Grandfather’s Suite, a Nanny’s Bedroom, and a Playroom. The reception area has a boutique feel, with striking black-and-white wallpaper and a
spiral staircase. There’s a chic breakfast room and a living room area with
couches and big panoramic windows. The large stone terrace is the highlight of the
property, with stunning views of the river and city.
Location
In a residential area outside of the city center but near a tram stop
The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood
just west of some of the more lively parts of the city. There aren’t a
lot of restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but there is a small convenience
store and a pastry shop. It’s a quick two- or three-minute walk to the basilica
where guests can catch a ride on the famous Electrico 28 tram into the city.
There’s also a taxi stand at the basilica, and it’s around a 20-minute drive to
the airport.
Rooms
Modern rooms, some with bathrooms across the hall
Rooms at The House are modern
and have a variety of decor, including white ladder shelving stands, playful wallpaper, and
wicker ceiling lights, and only some rooms have TVs. Bedding comes in a range of colors, from purple to brown. A few of the rooms also have furnished balconies. Some rooms are smallish, and some have tight bathrooms with tiny corner
showers. Two of the rooms have bathrooms across the hall, and the Playroom has an en-suite bathroom inside, but it has a frosted-glass partition separating it from the sleeping area rather than a full door. Toiletries are provided.
Features
