Scene

An upscale, chic resort that's lively at night

Opened in 2011, the hotel looks and feels new and modern.
Towering above the area with eight floors, the building is painted a bright but
tasteful yellow with white balconies. There is free parking, but the lot is
small. The reception area is open and airy, with a high ceiling.
Modern orange and green accents dot the tables around the lobby. Down a short
set of stairs is O’Asis, the lobby lounge, which is decorated with a
yellow-green couch, orange accents, and beachy cushioned chairs. There was a
jug of citrus water available for guests during our visit.Directly outside of the lobby is a large pool area,
separated into two spaces by a wood walkway bridge. The pool has a popular and
lively swim-up bar at one end. The hotel’s only restaurant, Taste, is located
by the bar. Outside of the pool area is the beach, which is very spacious and
relaxing. The scene at Ocean Two is livelier than at its
sister property, Sea Breeze Beach Hotel. Although the guests are mixed, the clientele tends to be younger. The atmosphere is relaxed yet
luxurious and not pretentious. The hotel has nightly entertainment including
live jazz, specialty cocktail nights, a manager’s cocktail party, and cold
treats. The hotel’s location on the St. Lawrence Gap, a hub of nightlife, also
adds to the lively atmosphere.Guests looking for a low-key, more kid-centered environment
can look at Ocean’s sister property, Sea Breeze Beach Hotel. Turtle Beach byElegant Hotels, an all-inclusive nearby, has a kids' club that is open
daily.

Location

On Dover Beach and the Saint Lawrence Gap

Located on the south coast of Barbados, on the popular and
touristy St. Lawrence Gap, Ocean Two is within walking distance to some of the
area’s best restaurants, nightlife, and entertainment. The resort has a large
beachfront on Dover Beach, one of the most highly rated beaches in Barbados.
The resort is a 15-minute drive from both Bridgetown and the airport.

Rooms

Updated and contemporary with upscale amenities

The relatively new construction of the hotel is evident in the rooms,
which are modern and chic. The rooms are furnished in two styles. The
plantation style has dark wood furniture and light granite countertops, beige
couches with light blue pillows, and dark brown accents on the bed. The
contemporary style has lighter furniture and darker granite, with red and
orange accents, a modern striped carpet, and gold and red drapes in the
bedroom. Each room has a king beds as well as a balcony that
has either a full or partial ocean view. The balconies are furnished with
cushioned chairs, although loungers would be nice. The suites are large (over
800 square feet) and have fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops,
washer/dryers, and stainless steel appliances, along with cups, plates, and cooking
and eating utensils. The suites have a spacious seating area with couches and
chairs as well as a dining table with seating for four or six.The bathrooms are large and updated as well with marble
double vanities, dark wood mirrors, upscale toiletries, a clean
tile shower, and a rainfall showerhead.

All rooms have flat-screen TVs with movies on
demand, iPod docks, safes, iron and ironing boards, and electric kettles.

Features

Home to the island’s only rooftop terrace

Ocean Two has a large, 150-foot circular pool area that is
split into two sections with a wooden walkway bridge. One side of the pool is
slightly raised and the are is landscaped with tropical plants. The pool is
circular and lagoon-like. A swim-up bar is located at one end and
red cushioned loungers are lined up on the beach side of the pool. The hotel’s only on-site restaurant, Taste, is located on the left side of the
pool. The restaurant is open-air with dark chairs and red cushions, and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a tapas menu.A highlight of the hotel is the rooftop terrace and pool,
the only one of its kind of the island. Located eight stories up, the terrace
provides beautiful views of the ocean, island, and surrounding area,
particularly during sunset. A small, two-tiered pool is located on the terrace
and there are a handful of cushioned loungers and couches. Dining tables and
chairs are lined up along the edge. The hotel has a large, modern fitness center with
treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, weight benches, balance balls, free
weights, and strength machines. There are also two modern meeting rooms with comfy couches,
chairs, and a TV. A seasonal Kid’s Club is offered during peak
times such as Christmas and Easter. There is no spa on-site, but spa treatments are available
in-room. Turtle Beach by Elegant Hotels down the road has an on-site spa.

Beach

A big beach with good snorkeling

The beach is directly in back of the pool and is very spacious. There is a rock boundary into the water with a small entry area. An existing reef makes for good snorkeling directly off of the beach. On the day of our visit, the water was calm, clear, and blue. There are red cushioned loungers and umbrellas set up along the beach but the large space makes it feel open and relaxed, and the loungers are not clustered together. Non-motorized water sports equipment including snorkels and goggles, boogie boards, kayaks, pool floats, and noodles, is provided on-site. There is a drink stand between the pool and the beach that has cold refreshments.

Weddings

On-site wedding planner

Ocean Two frequently hosts weddings and has a full-time, on-site wedding planner (that is shared with the hotel’s
nearby sister property, Sea Breeze Beach Hotel) to help guests plan their occasion. There
are multiple locations to choose from, the most popular ceremony site being
the hotel’s rooftop terrace. The traditional wedding
package includes the marriage license, minister, cake, and bride’s and groom’s
flowers, and can be customized to the couple’s needs.
