the best rooms of the bunch. Modern and contemporary, the rooms have marble bathrooms,
upscale furnishings, and private patios or balconies. The hotel’s lagoon-like pool complex is scenic and relaxing with

Scene

A family-friendly and relaxed former colonial club

Colony Club was restored from a former colonial
club and historic and architectural details have been preserved, such as the
lush gardens and long driveway. The buildings are low and white, but with all
the tropical foliage, you barely see the buildings. Waterfalls, palm trees, and flowers dot the grounds and provide a tropical oasis feel.Guests enter the property through a long, tree-lined drive.
There is ample parking in a lot located by the road. Since the
resort is set back from the road, there is no traffic noise in the rooms. The reception area is open-air and has a large, landscaped
koi pond in the center. Off of the lobby is a spacious lounge with multiple
seating areas, colorful accents, and plantation-style furnishings. The lobby
also has a jewelry store, convenience shop, and a separate air-conditioned
library and business center with an extensive amount of books. The large Laguna Restaurant is off of the lobby and is
open-air with high, vaulted ceilings, red and green chairs, plenty of tables,
and a few couches. The other restaurant, the Sunset Bar & Deck, is
located in the pool area, and has a swim-up bar.The pool area is large and scenic, and wraps around much of
the hotel’s grounds. The beach is located directly behind the hotel and has soft sand, clear, calm water, and many palm trees providing shade. The atmosphere around the resort is casual and relaxed. The
resort is family-friendly and has a seasonal Kid’s Korner with supervised
activities. Couples may prefer to stay at Crystal Cove
or The House, other Elegant Hotels properties that are adult-only (The House is
more expensive). Sea Breeze Beach Hotel, an all-inclusive resort on the south
coast, is a good value and has both a family pool and an adult-only area.

Rooms

Sophisticated, contemporary rooms with colonial decor influences

Colony Club has 96 guest rooms and suites in six categories. Each room has its
own private balcony or patio. The rooms are contemporary and upscale, with dark
wood furnishings, large silver mirrors, neutral pillows and accents, and modern
white bedding; elements such as poster beds and gilded lamps add a slight colonial flavor. The suites have white contemporary couches and chairs, blue
accents, round cushioned ottomans, and neutral art.
The patios and balconies are spacious and luxurious, and the one we saw in the Garden View Junior Suite had a glass table and
seating for four, as well as a daybed. Even the patios in the Garden View rooms are scenic and
fairly private due to the lush grounds. The bathrooms have marble countertops, clean tile shower/tub
combos, wood mirrors, and upscale toiletries. The Garden View Junior Suite has a big two-person shower/tub combo. Amenities across all categories include iPod docks, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs with cable. Minibars and tea/coffee facilities are also provided. The yoga mats are a fun, unexpected extra.

Features

Gorgeous pool complex and two restaurants

The hotel’s four lagoon-style swimming pools are the
highlight here. They are winding and attractive, with waterfalls, rock walls,
and walkway bridges. The whole area is beautifully landscaped with palm trees
and other tropical plants. The pool at the bottom of the complex, near the
restaurant/lobby, is larger and more traditional looking. There is also a larger
pool near the top of the complex. There are loungers and chairs with umbrellas
along the perimeter.Colony Club has two on-site restaurants. Laguna Restaurant is a huge, open-air space located off of
the lobby that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The quality of the food is good
and breakfast in particular has a lot of choices. Sunset Bar and Deck is located by the pool and has a swim-upbar, as well as a cushioned seating area. The restaurant has a spacious deck
along the beach with plenty of dining tables, and has gorgeous views of the
beach. Sunset is open daily from morning until midnight. The resort has a small fitness center with treadmills, an
elliptical, stationary bike, strength machines, free weights, and balance
balls. Tennis courts are also on the property.

Beach

Scenic beach with water sports

Colony Club’s beach is a decent length but it is narrow, like many other resort beaches on the island. The sand is white and the water is turquoise blue, clear, and calm. Palm trees dot the edge of the beach and provide shade. Two rows of cushioned lounge chairs are lined up on the beach and back up to a sandy area under some palm trees. Since the beach is narrow, the chairs are clustered together and the area can feel congested. The beaches on the south coast, such as those at Southern Palms Beach Resort, Turtle Beach, and Ocean Two Resort, are more spacious.Free non-motorized water sports including snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, and paddle-boarding, are provided. There is also a free water taxi transport between Elegant Hotels' other west coast properties.

Weddings

Variety of packages available

Colony Club offers multiple wedding packages that can
include the ceremony, minister, photographer, flowers, wedding cake, and bridal
hair and make-up. They also have vow renewal and honeymoon packages.
