Bottom Line

Located on a quiet street in Bangkok's central business district, the Sivatel Bangkok hotel is a modern high-rise that caters to business travelers (there's a business center and meeting rooms) and tourists with its rooftop pool, spa, and all-suites lodging. Its modern Thai style is simple and understated, with clean lines and muted tones throughout. Rooms start on the 17th floor, guaranteeing impressive views from all suites. There are four restaurants, including an outdoor terrace garden, a poolside bar, and poolside fine dining, but some guests complain that the quality isn't up to the price. Scene

Modern high-rise with traditional Thai accents and business-friendly amenities

Located in a high-rise tower in central Bangkok, the Sivatel Bangkok has two lobbies: Guests enter and check in on the ground floor -- with its large windows, wooden screens, and Thai artwork -- before ascending to the library-like upper lobby, with its vintage-style white sofas, Thai textiles and accents, and views over the city. The lobby opens onto a small terrace with views over the rooftops. Most of the common areas are similarly clean-lined and modern. The lush rooftop garden is filled with wooden furniture, and the pool is lined with wooden sun loungers. The atmosphere  is generally quiet, but thanks to its central location, most guests spend most of their time out and about, and business guests use the hotel as a home-base for nearby meetings.

Location

In the entral business district, within walking distance of shopping centers and a skytrain station

The Sivatel Bangkok hotel is located in Bangkok's central business district, around the corner from a skytrain stop and within walking distance of several major shopping centers, as well as embassies. The street itself is relatively quiet, although some guests complain of noise from concerts at the nearby shopping center. The proximity to the malls, though, means that there are plenty of excellent restaurants within walking distance. The international airport is about a 40-minute drive away, and airport transfers can be arranged upon request for a fee.

Rooms

All-suites lodging with Apple TVs and soaking tubs

The Sivatel Bangkok consists entirely of suites, which are chic and modern, if a little characterless. The color palette is muted, with gray walls, straw-colored sofas and chairs, pops of purple in accent pieces, light-wood paneling, and dark-wood furniture. All suites have large windows with impressive city views, and the work desks have ergonomic chairs. Bathrooms are large, with limestone tiling, walk-in rainfall showers, soaking tubs, bathrobes, and signature toiletries. Suites also have flat-screen Apple TVs, fully stocked minibars, iPod docks, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and free Wi-Fi.

Features

Spa, fitness center with yoga studio, four restaurants, rooftop infinity pool

The Sivatel Bangkok has all the requisite luxury amenities. There's a full-service spa with a sauna and steam room, and a health club with a small but state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga studio, and locker room with showers. There are four restaurants, including a fine-dining option that opens on to the pool, as well as a more casual, if slightly kitschy, European-inspired cafe; the other two are an outdoor rooftop terrace garden and a poolside bar. The pool is a rooftop infinity pool that has plenty of loungers and impressive views of the city, but doesn't receive as much sunlight as one might like. There are also meeting rooms, a business center, and free Wi-Fi throughout.
