Part of the Warwick brand, this high-rise luxury hotel is centrally located in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit area, next to many restaurants and bars, and a 10-minute walk from the nearest Skytrain station. A well-rounded array of features is on offer, including a full spa, an outdoor pool, a modern gym, and a variety of high-quality restaurants. All rooms are spacious, modern, and immaculately clean, and some suites have two full bathrooms, kitchenettes, or terraces with city views. All told, the Rembrandt is a great option for both leisure and business travelers, as well as families.
Scene
Classy, modern high-rise with ornate Thai-style interiors
Situated in a huge, beige high-rise fronted by bright green shrubbery, the
Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok has something of a corporate look from the outside. Once inside, however, the property emanates Thai elegance, from the geometric tiles lining the lobby's domed ceiling to the wide, gray marble staircase leading to and from the vast space. Sweeping columns flank a huge floral arrangement in a copper pot, and clusters of velvety red and brown armchairs offer seating for guests -- typically a mix of international tourist couples and families. Appropriately, the hotel has a variety of ethnic restaurants, some decorated in flashy, culturally inspired style -- Senor Pico, the Mexican restaurant, for instance, has terracotta tiled floors, cactus sculptures, and a bar and stage backlit in green and red to evoke the Mexican flag. Another popular spot, especially in the afternoons, is the fourth-floor pool, which isn't huge, though is lined with plenty of slick, black lounge chairs. The spa is cozy and intimate with a dimly lit reception area and a couple of private, soothing massage rooms with beds covered in layers of fine linen and a few fresh flowers.
Location
On quiet street in central Bangkok off of Sukhumvit Road
Situated in a relatively quiet, tree-lined area off of
the busy Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok’s
Sukhumvit area, the Rembrandt is steps away from several bars,
shops, and restaurants. The property is about a 10-minute walk from the Asoke Skytrain station and Terminal
21 shopping mall. Benjakiti Park is about a 10-minute walk away. The Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha) and National Museum are both about 30 to 45 minutes away by either car or public
transportation. Suvarnabhumi Airport is about 45 minutes away by car, or an hour and 15 minutes by public transportation.
Rooms
Modern and spacious with minibars; many with great views, though lackluster decor
There is a variety of rooms at The Rembrandt and even the
most basic Superior Rooms are spacious, modern, and comfortable -- if lacking in personality. Decor is simple and corporate: dark wood furniture, neutral drapes, patterned armchairs and carpeting in bland orange tones, and all-white bedding. Superior Rooms are on the lower floors of the hotel, and each is air-conditioned and has a minibar, bedside remote control panel, flat-screen TV, safe, kettle for tea and coffee, and work desk with leather chair. Bathrooms are done in light gray tile, with white shower/tub combos. Rooms have large windows, and many have spectacular views of the city. Deluxe Rooms have beautiful wood floors, and connecting rooms and Family Rooms with bunk-beds are available. Large suites with elegant living/dining areas, two bathrooms, kitchenettes, and/or lovely plant-lined terraces are also on offer.
Features
Full-service spa, international cuisine, live music, outdoor pool, and modern gym
The Rembrandt has every amenity to allow for a self-contained vacation or trip, including five restaurants and two standalone bars. Senor Pico Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar is unexpected for Bangkok and thus draws outside guests seeking Mexican fare, table-side guacamole service, and live Mariachi music six nights per week. Flavours serves buffet-style Thai and international dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Da Vinci restaurant specializes in Tuscan-style, Spanish-influenced cuisine for lunch and dinner. Red Pepper is the elegant, traditional, sit-down Thai restaurant that serves delicious curries and fresh, local dishes. Located on the rooftop with breathtaking views of the city, Rang Mahal serves well-reviewed Northern Indian cuisine and hosts a live, four-piece band every evening except Monday. A jazz pianist performs in The Lobby Bar six nights per week, and the Pool Bar offers cocktails and casual fare, like burgers. Guests should note that Flavours' enormous breakfast buffet -- with eggs, cereal, and fresh local and international dishes -- is only included in some room packages. Other features include the fourth-floor rooftop pool, an expansive and beautifully designed modern gym, and a spa with various massages and beauty treatments on offer. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and there are a business center and several meeting rooms. Thai cooking lessons are available on site. Parking is free.
