Park Hyatt Bangkok

One of the newer luxury hotels to pop up in the Bangkok skyline, the Park Hyatt Bangkok is a business and leisure property situated in the upper three quarters of a modern 36-story tower. It attracts a mix of tourists and business travelers, with many of the guests coming from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. The hotel is also popular with Chinese travelers, many of whom opt to stay here due to its proximity to luxury shopping. 

There's a big emphasis on art, and common areas are filled with sculptures and paintings from well-known artists. Highlights include a metal stairway sculpture on the ground floor by Chinese artist Gao Weigang, and a gigantic mobile-like hanging installation consisting of bells formed in the shape of an inverted pagoda above one of the staircases. There are also multiple huge murals made of metallic beetles created by celebrated artist Chatchai Puipia in The Bar, and an enormous Garuda sculpture weaving through two of the restaurants on the ninth floor. While public spaces are lovely, this large property can be difficult to navigate. The lobby is on the 10th floor and some of the meeting spaces and other common areas are on the ninth floor; there are different elevators for accessing rooms and some of the facilities. 

Park Hyatt is located on the intersection of Phloen Chit Road, the main thoroughfare that runs east to west through central Bangkok, and Wireless Road, home to many of the city's embassies. The hotel is directly attached to the chic Central Embassy shopping mall, which is filled with high-end designer outlets (the likes of Chanel and Prada), and there are direct access points between the mall and the Park Hyatt on multiple floors. The Phloen Chit BTS station is right next to the hotel, and it's about a 10-minute walk to the Nana neighborhood. Getting to the Grand Palace is a  20-minute drive from the hotel, while getting to the iconic What Arun takes around 25 minutes to reach without traffic. It's about a 45-minute drive to both the Don Mueang Airport and the Suvarnabhumi Airport, but both locations can take considerably longer to reach during rush hour. 

Rooms and suites at this hotel are unsurprisingly luxurious. They're situated on the 11th through 33rd floors, and all have floor-to-ceiling windows with incredible views of the Bangkok skyline. While rooms and suites vary by size and layout, decor is consistent across categories. All units have black desks, cabinets, and lamps paired with yellowish-olive area rugs and accents. Guests might recognize the bas-relief lotus depictions found elsewhere throughout the hotel. Recessed lighting and soft lampshades create a relaxed ambience. Even the entry-level One King and Two Twin Rooms have screens separating sleeping areas from front sections where the desks and minibars are located. Amenities are as upscale as the decor, and include Nespresso coffeemakers, minibars, huge safes, big flat-screen TVs with cable, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms across categories are swish, with huge soaking tubs, separate walk-in rainfall showers, double vanities, magnifying mirrors, and Le Labo toiletries. Robes and slippers come standard in all categories.

Facilities offer plenty of luxury for business travelers and tourists alike. There's a spacious 24-hour fitness center with modern Life Fitness weight-training and cardio equipment in front of big picture windows. Just below the fitness center sits a gorgeous terrace deck area with an infinity pool flanked by greenery and sun beds, with stunning views out on the city. The Panpuri Organic Spa offers massages and facials using organic locally sourced products, plus free steam and whirlpool facilities for guests to use before and after their treatments.

Dining options aren't too shabby either. There are two adjacent restaurants on the ninth floor: the Living Room restaurant and the Embassy Room, where breakfast is served buffet-style or a la carte. The Embassy Room offers private dining, and guests who sign up for cooking lessons get their instruction here. Alternatively, the Penthouse Bar & Grill is spread over the top three floors of the hotel and is composed of six bars and lounges serving Thai and international fare, with special menus for kids and extensive wine and cocktail offerings. Just off the lobby, The Bar is a casual multi-room spot with drinks and snack items (mostly Thai grills, cheeses, and desserts). Room service is available around the clock.

Business amenities are top of the line, with lots of event space for meetings and weddings, along with a business center, secretarial services, and catering. The largest venue is the 540-square-meter (5,813-square-foot) ballroom located on a lower level below the lobby, with room for up to 600 guests, cocktail reception style. For smaller meetings, there's a special section of the hotel,The Parlor, on the ninth floor featuring five rooms of varying sizes that seat anywhere from 20 to 70 people, theater-style. For casual co-working, there's a library with books and a table that guests can access at their leisure. The hotel offers free parking for overnight guests and Wi-Fi is free everywhere in the property.
