Bottom Line

Mac Boutique Suites hotel is an mid-range property well-located in Bangkok, just off the bustling Sukhumvit Road near the Skytrain. A main draw is the hotel's 74 spacious studios and suites, which start at 400 square feet and feature hardwood floors, zebra-print sofas, and amenities like mini-fridges, electric kettles, and flat-screen TVs, though some guests find the decor a bit tired and the bathrooms small. Scene

Contemporary hotel from a popular Indian chain with spacious studios and suites

Mac Boutique Suites Hotel is situated in a modern, eight-story low-rise with a curved facade colorblocked in beige, off-white, and gray. The lobby is spacious and contemporary with a vast wood floor, reception desk lit by colorful globe lights, and leathery couches gathered in the corners. A cut-out wall separates the lobby from the restaurant and bar, which offers a similar streamlined look. The hotel is part of the India-based Club Mahindra chain, and guests are often drawn here because of the Indian cuisine and respected brand name. Unfortunately, those used to the Club M's luxury resorts in India may find this property not quite up to standards. But for guests without the lofty expectations set by the brand name, this is a solid property. Amenities are limited, but the location is convenient and the rooms are spacious enough to attract lots of families, though there are plenty of room options for couples, too.

Location

Just off Sukhumvit Road, four-minute walk to Skytrain

The hotel is on a gritty block near Sukhumvit Road, a bustling main drag in Bangkok filled with restaurants, street food vendors, shops, and other hotels. It's just a four-minute walk from the Nana Skytrain Station, which offers easy access to sights across the city. Attractions like the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and the Reclining Buddah are a bit of a hike, but are a straight shot via public transit, all reachable in about 40 to 45 minutes. Don Muang International Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok International Airport) are each about a 30-minute drive, depending on traffic. The hotel can arrange airport transfers for an extra fee. Limited free parking is available on-site, though spaces are small.

Rooms

Spacious studios and suites with hardwood floors, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi

This all-suite hotel has spacious rooms with simple, traditional decor made up of dark wood floors and furniture, cream-colored walls, and crimson accents and drapes. In larger rooms, separate sitting areas may have tiled floors and zebra-print furniture adding a small dose of style. White tiled bathrooms feel old-fashioned with brown accents and mottled sinks, and they tend to run small, especially compared to the spacious sizes of the rooms themselves. Guests sometimes complain about the bathtubs, which are little, narrow, and not ideal for showering. The sheer space of these suites is a real draw, ranging from the entry-level Smart Studio (400 square feet) to the enormous Presidential Suite (980 square feet). Most rooms are meant for two guests, though extra beds are available (for a fee) and Family Rooms are designed to accommodate four. All rooms are air-conditioned and include sitting areas and desks as well as 32-inch LCD TVs, DVD/CD players, and safes. They're also equipped with coffee/tea service (with electric kettles) and empty mini-fridges. Bathrooms have hairdryers and soap dispensers. Upgraded rooms may add separate sitting areas, extras like bathrobes and bigger fridges, or balconies, though the views are sometimes only of adjacent buildings. Guests sometimes complain about thin walls or noise from outside, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs.

Features

Restaurant, bar, and concierge service, but no wellness facilities

The hotel has a stylish lobby restaurant and bar specializing in Indian cuisine, though it also serves some Thai and Western dishes. While guests tend to agree that the food is tasty, some find it a little pricey compared to nearby options. A daily breakfast buffet features hot and cold Indian and International dishes, but it may cost an extra fee. Room service is available during limited hours. The hotel's front desk is staffed 24 hours, and staff can assist with concierge services such as putting together touring or travel plans or booking a car service. Wi-Fi is free, and limited free parking is available on-site. There are no wellness facilities.
