Bottom Line

Link Corner Hostel Bangkok is a budget hostel offering low-rate private rooms and dorms with air-conditioning and Wi-Fi. The property is best served for those who just want to sleep as there’s no breakfast, only a common room and a microwave and refrigerator for guests to use. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the hotel is located next to the Ratchaprarop train station, which is pretty convenient as the property is a 25-minute drive from many of Bangkok’s main attractions. Budget travelers might want to consider Chern Hostel which is within walking distance of the Grand Palace and has a more modern design and a paid breakfast.

Scene

Budget hotel with a boho-style common area and clientele of youthful travelers

From the outside, Link Corner Hostel looks a bit grimy, but a 2015 renovation and a kind staff create an overall welcoming atmosphere inside. Upon entering, guests must take off their shoes and use a pair of flip-flops provided by the hotel. The lobby is simple with glossy floors and seating for guests to interact. The black and white photography adds a bit of artistic flair to the mix. Most guests mingle in the common room, which has a bohemian look with synthetic grass floors and beds laid out on the floor with different types of bed sheets. There’s no elevator on-site so guests must drag their luggage, sometimes up five flights of stairs. It’s not modern by any means, but the young budget travelers it attracts don’t seem to mind, as the low room rates and the convenient location next to a train station are most important.

Location

Next to the Ratchaprarop train station and a 25-minute drive to most of Bangkok's attractions

Link Corner Hostel Bangkok’s main highlight is that it sits next to the Ratchaprarop train station, making it easy to travel throughout the city. The area is constantly busy as its filled with shops and restaurants on surrounding streets. Most attractions like Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, and Wat Phra Kaew are 20- to 25-minute drives away. The MBK center, with the famous four-story Tokyu department store, takes about 30 minutes to reach on foot. It’s a 30-minute drive to Don Mueang International Airport.

Rooms

Dorms with bunk beds and lockers and homey private rooms with shared bathrooms

Rooms are about as basic as they come, especially in dorms which only feature black bunk beds and glossy white floors with no decorative elements. Private rooms vary in style but all are contemporary and homey with simple floral beds and dated furniture. As for amenities, all rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Dorms have reading lights and international sockets for each bed, as well as lockers in the rooms. Some private rooms have in-room sinks. The shared bathrooms are kept clean for the most part and are equipped with showers and hairdryers. Be sure to bring earplugs as traffic noise can be heard day and night from rooms.

Features

Common area, washing machine, microwave and mini-fridge, and free Wi-Fi

While hostels aren’t known for housing a lot of features, Link Corner Hostel Bangkok provides even less than most; breakfast isn’t even offered. There’s a common area with a TV, sitting areas, and a book exchange. Travelers can wash their laundry in the coin-operated washing machine, though no dryer is available. Wi-Fi is free throughout, and there’s a public computer. There’s also luggage storage, and a microwave and refrigerator for guests to use. Staff is reportedly helpful and friendly.
