The lebua at State Tower is a large hotel in one of Bangkok's tallest buildings. Located on Silom Road in the heart of the central business district, it's near scores of restaurants, bars, and shops, and boasts a great location for accessing the Chao Phraya River and various city sights. The rooms here are palatial, and come with full kitchenettes and separate living rooms, and even washers and dryers in the larger suites. Needless to say, the views are jaw-dropping, and the hotel has some of the city's most upscale restaurants up on the roof. The hotel also has a fitness center, pool, and spa. While the views here are definitely the best in town, the hotel is not quite as elegant as some of the neighboring competition, and with all the floors and guests, the elevator waits are long.
Scene
Very happening pool scene here, as well as rooftop bars and restaurants full of locals and tourists
The lebua State Tower is a pretty happening place. Besides guests, the hotel gets lots of outsiders making a beeline for the rooftop bars and restaurants come sunset. There are a lot of folks dressed for success here and trying to make an impression, whether on a hot date or a business meeting, and the swank spots upstairs attract quite a crowd. The massive swimming pool downstairs is also quite a scene, and looks more like something out of Vegas than Bangkok. It's rare to see this many people at a hotel pool in Bangkok. The hotel attracts a wide range of folks, from those who've seen the Hangover 2 and said they have to stay here, to those who love the views, or those who can't quite pony up for the pric etag of the more elegant neighbors. At any rate, it is always crowded and bustling here, and while the views from high are well worth dressing up for, the waits for the elevators at sunset are a major downer.
Location
Convenient location in the central business district, close to hundreds of restaurants, shops, and nightlife options
The lebua State Tower has a very convenient location close to restaurants, bars, and shopping in the heart of Silom Road, the central business district of Bangkok. The Patpong Night Market is a short stroll away, and the Chao Phraya River ferry is not that far either, giving access to all the tourist sights. While both the river ferry pier and the skytrain station are a good 10- to 15-minute hot and crowded walk away, it's still worth staying here. From the upper levels of the hotel, you get some of the best views in Bangkok, perfect for taking in sunsets over the river, and the area in front of the hotel is always packed with taxis and tuk tuks waiting for business. While the intersection of Silom and Charoenkrung roads where the hotel sits is ultra busy, you'll never notice once inside the hotel as everything takes place high up above the streets, and there is no traffic noise here.
Rooms
Palatial rooms with separate living rooms and full kitchenettes. Two and three-bedroom suites come with washers and dryers.
The rooms at the lebua State Tower are absolutely palatial. Even the standard Superior Suites come with 700 square feet of living space, with private balconies and separate living rooms. In addition to the bedroom and large bathroom with separate tub and shower, there is also a full kitchenette in each, with a cooking range, microwave oven, electric hot water kettle, and extra-large refrigerator. There is also a DVD player, large flat-screen TV, writing desk, safe, and free Wi-Fi in all as well. The two- and three-bedroom suites are even more extravagant, and they come with washer and dryers, ironing boards, and daily newspapers. While the furnishings are not as elegant as some of the neighboring luxury properties, this is still a great spot to call home, as the views from the balconies are some of the top in Bangkok, especially those looking out toward the Chao Phraya River and its magical sunsets.
Features
Several high-end restaurants and bars with knockout views up top; large swimming pool and state of the art fitness center downstairs
There is plenty extra to choose from at the lebua State Tower. Downstairs, there is a very large swimming pool with tons of sun loungers set around it, with a scene that looks a bit more reminiscent of Vegas than of Bangkok. There is also a large state-of-the-art fitness center here as well as a pampering spa. However, the area where the Lebua really shines is up on the roof, where one can find Sirocco, Mezzaluna, and Distil, with the best views in town. Mezzaluna sits up on the 65th floor and features haute cuisine tasting menus that are extremely pricey but show off visiting Michelin chefs and some really high-end dining. Sirocco sits just below it on the 63rd floor, out on a terrace that hangs over the entire city. Views here are jaw-dropping and it's a very popular spot for Valentine's Day, honeymoons, or other romantic occasions. In between these two spots, there is Distil, a small bar with both an indoor and outdoor seating area. This is where they filmed Hangover 2, and it's no surprise that the top selling drink on the menu is the Hangovertini! On the 52nd floor is yet another restaurant, Breeze, which does Asian cutting-edge dining and seafood, and features an 80-foot, neon-lit sky bridge as well.
