Bottom Line

The mid-range Indra Regent Hotel is located in the Pratunam Market and shopping area, where many tourist sights are

vary in size and amenities, but all come with minibars and free bottled water, and flat-screen or tube-style TVs. Upgraded
bathrooms have separate soaking tubs and glassed-in showers, and include slippers and
robes. There is a small fitness center and multi-service spa that uses Thai techniques. Several bars and restaurants are on-site, along with an outdoor pool with seating and green space. Parking and breakfast are included in the room rate, but Wi-Fi comes with a hefty, daily fee.

Scene

Hotel is slightly dated, but is in a convenient location

Some of the decor seems to carry over from the hotel’s opening in 1971. Pink, black, and white tiled floors adorn the yellow-lighted lobby, while the Sala Thai restaurant has wood
carved ceilings, parquet floors, and old-style chandeliers. Carved walls are also
in the Botanica restaurant, which has large floor-to-ceiling windows and an illuminated tray ceiling. Some of the restaurants have updated seating, but the carpets
appear to be past their prime. Chandeliers, swirling carpet, and Thai
artwork are in the common areas, but the design, while once impressive, today looks dated. Most of the
hotel is dimly lit, but the spa is bright with modern bowl
sinks and new light tile flooring. A McDonald’s, KFC, and other shops contribute to the nearby congestion, and noise and traffic sounds reverberate throughout the hotel.

Location

Located in the bustling Pratunam Market

With a central location in the Pratunam Market area, the Indra Regent Hotel sits in a prime area, but busy traffic noise can be heard throughout the hotel. Shops and restaurants sit right below the property, and many sights are within
walking distance, including the Baiyoke Tower II, Erawan Shrine, Pantip Plaza, and Platinum Fashion
Mall. Siam Square, the MBK Center, and Siam
Paragon Mall are within a 10-minute walk, and public transportation is nearby.

Rooms

Rooms vary in size and amenities

Rooms can accommodate single travelers and large families or groups, and nonsmoking rooms are available on request.  Rooms are decorated with teakwood
furniture and colorful accent walls, and come with minibars and free bottled water, coffeemakers, air-conditioning, and sitting areas.
Some rooms have flat-screen TVs, while others have tube-style TVs. Some rooms, such as the Deluxe Family Suite, have curtains are in a '70s floral print that clashes with the carpet. Bed runners provide some color, and contemporary leather chairs in
the seating areas offer comfort. Upgraded rooms have separate soaking tubs
and glassed-in showers with a powder room, while Standard Rooms have shower/tub combos and basic white tile. Larger rooms come with robes and slippers. All bathrooms have speckled gray countertops and come with toiletries. Guests have complained about street noise and bugs in the rooms.

Features

On-site spa, restaurants/bars, and pools; expensive daily fee for Wi-Fi

The on-site spa, Spa Indra, offers a
sauna, steam room, and whirlpool in addition to massages, body scrubs/wraps, and
facials. Robes and slippers are provided, and all services use traditional Thai
techniques. Most of the on-site restaurants focus on
Chinese and Thai food. Botanica (which serves international and Chinese food) has an a la
carte menu, and Ming Court (serving authentic Cantonese cuisine) is one of the main eating
areas. Sala Thai (inside a 13th-century teak pavilion) serves authentic Thai cuisine, and has an evening classic dance performance that relies on Thai instruments. The Garden Terrace, where the daily free breakfast buffet is served, is outdoors. There's also the Chandelier Bar for drinks, and the outdoor Poolside Bar for snacks, drinks,
ice cream. An outdoor pool with lounge seating and
greenery is also a highlight of this hotel. There’s an accompanying small
children’s pool and a modern fitness center with a range of equipment. A snooker room and 24-hour limo service are also available,
but the daily Wi-Fi fee is expensive.
