The Golden Tulip Mandison Suites is a compact hotel located off of busy Sukhumvit Road on a quieter side street. The hotel is too far from the restaurants and bars of Sukhumvit to walk, but it does have a free tuk tuk shuttle for guests. The location is quiet, and the rooms here come with flat-screen TVs, electric hot water kettles, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has one of the nicest swimming pools for a smaller property, located on the fourth-floor terrace next to the hotel's one small restaurant, and the adjoining bar shows movies on the big screen. There is also a fitness center and meeting room available. It's a great value for an upscale hotel; Shanghai Mansion is another excellent boutique option in this price range, but it lacks Golden Tulip's pool.
Scene
This small property offers nice perks like a pool and big screen for occasional movie nights.
The Golden Tulip Mandison may be a compact hotel, but it does have some popular common spaces, as the lobby, restaurant, small lounge with big screen for movies, and stylish boutique swimming pool are all located next to each other, and most guests can be found here. The hotel attracts a hodgepodge of clients, although a majority of the guests are from Asia. The clientele is a pretty casual bunch and this is not a stuffy, formal property. Lots of folks can be found relaxing on the sun loungers around the pool, or in the cute love seats next to it. Another popular spot is the bar area of Oppio restaurant, which adjoins the lobby. The small lounge has a large screen that the hotel shows movies on, with plenty of space in the lobby for relaxing. Other than this, the Golden Tulip Mandison is a quiet spot, and many guests will spend their days and evenings out on the town, making use of the hotel's free tuk tuk shuttle service to get them up to happening Sukhumvit Road with all of its restaurants, bars, nightlife, and access to the skytrain for explorations around Bangkok.
Location
Quiet location far down Soi 20
The Golden Tulip Mandison is located quite far down Soi 20 from major Sukhumvit Road. While it is in a quiet location, it is too far to walk to Sukhumvit, and there are not as many restaurants and bars at this end of the street to choose from. The hotel does run a free tuk tuk shuttle service up to Sukhumvit and the skytrain to help alleviate this, and there are plenty of motorcycle taxis, tuk tuks, and taxis to be found around the hotel for getting out as well. Further up Soi 20, there are many options for eating, drinking, and shopping, as well as spas and salons for massages.
Rooms
All rooms have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi; Grand Deluxe rooms have bathtubs.
While there are some large high-end suites at the Golden Tulip Mandison, the majority of the rooms are either Deluxe or Grand Deluxe. Both of these (and the suites) come with nice furnishings, which include sofas, desks, and chairs, and all of the rooms have large flat-screen LCD televisions, electric hot water kettles, bathrobes and slippers, closet space, and free Wi-Fi. The rooms are about the same size, with the Grand Deluxe rooms having the extra bonus of bathtubs to go with the showers, as well as guaranteeing king beds (most Deluxe rooms have twins, although some have kings). The biggest downside to the rooms is their lack of balconies or open windows, and there really aren't any views to speak of in this neighborhood.
Features
Beautiful boutique swimming pool for lap swimming and sunning, plus a bar with a large screen for movie nights
The hotel is pretty compact with not too many features. However, it does have a wonderful boutique-style swimming pool with fountains that is large enough for swimming laps, and is surrounded by sunny lounging areas, along with some cute designer love seats. Additionally, the hotel has a small restaurant, Oppio, with a neighboring lounge area that has a big screen for showing movies at night. There is also a small fitness center upstairs, along with a meeting room for business travelers.
