Located in a quiet, residential
area near the Ratchaprasong shopping district, the four-pearl,
20-story Cape House offers luxurious Studio, One-, and Two-Bedroom Suites, each
with a fully equipped kitchenette and washing machine. Property amenities
include a business lounge, swimming pool, children's play room, and large fitness center. The ground-floor Italian restaurant is popular with
visitors and locals alike, as is Cape House's on-site bakery. Smoking rooms at the hotel are available, which can be an unpleasant surprise for those who do not specify a non-smoking room.
Scene
This elegant, apartment-style property is popular with business travelers and those in the area to visit a well-known fertility clinic.
The Cape House is located in a large
20-story tower built in postmodern style. The first five floors have a blocky,
generally flat façade with salmon trimmings, whereas the sixth floor and higher -- where
guest rooms are located -- look like balconied apartments from the outside. Inside, a chic lobby
offers cream-colored marble floors and matching walls offset by dark-wood doors
and furnishings. The marble front desk is nestled alongside a small, rather elegant seating
area in neutral hues. The hotel is popular with long-term guests and a sizable
percentage of the visitors here are Japanese business travelers, although its
proximity to a well-known fertility clinic has also made it increasingly popular
with medical tourists from China.
Location
In a primarily residential area near the Ratchaprasong shopping district
Cape House is located on a one-way street
populated by residences and a few office buildings. Although it's close to
the Ratchaprasong shopping district, the street is fairly quiet outside of
rush hour. There are plenty of restaurants and massage parlors in the immediate
vicinity, and a Starbucks is just down the road. Getting to the closest BTS
Skytrain takes less than 10 minutes by foot. The Jim Thompson House,
which focuses on traditional Thai architecture, is less than a 20-minute drive west
while reaching the markets of Khao San Road takes around 30 minutes. The
temples of Wat Pho, Wat Phra Kaew, and Wat Arun are around 30 to 35 minutes northwest by car, and Suvarnabhumi
Airport is about a 35-minute drive east, though traffic can add
significant travel time.
Rooms
Elegant apartment-style lodging with furnished kitchenettes and washing machines
The 20-story Cape House offers Studios and
One- and Two-Bedroom Suites with separate living areas and
kitchenettes. All rooms also come with flat-screen TVs with DVD players,
stereo systems, free Wi-Fi, and small teddy bears that guests can take home as souvenirs. Elegant, classic decor abounds amid big windows offering
city views, dark hardwood floors, and gray carpeting. Molded walls have simple framed
artwork, most of which are sketches of nature scenes or landscapes. Living
rooms have beige and grayish tan chairs and sofas. Kitchenettes are spacious
and equipped with full-sized fridges, microwaves, utensils, and crockery as well
as washing machines (but no dryers or dishwashers). Bathrooms offer gray granite countertops and soaking tubs separate from glass-walled walk-in showers. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are
available; keep in mind that smoking rooms retain a strong cigarette smell.
Features
Plentiful features include an on-site bakery, Italian restaurant, big fitness center, and pool -- among others.
Located on Cape House's ground floor, the No.43 Italian Bistro
serves Italian and Thai dishes while attracting both hotel guests and locals and tourists in the area. The venue’s decor is a mix of contemporary Thai
design and warm Tuscan ambiance, with lightwood floors and walls painted the
color of a wheat field. The hotel also has its own bakery that offers European-style pastries and cakes. Other amenities include a large, carpeted
fitness center with multiple treadmills, exercise bikes, weight machines, and
free weights, as well as a changing room with lockers and private cabins.
There are also a few massage booths off to one side. Next to the fitness center
is a small store selling ice cream, toiletries, and instant meals. There’s also a small lending library with a variety of
paperback books likely left behind by past guests. The property has a sauna and steam room as well as an outdoor pool flanked by a patio area; on the
opposite end is a covered elevated platform with a round whirlpool hot tub. The
kids' room is a small, sunny space featuring brightly colored plastic toys, a
mini-slide for toddlers, and traditional wooden Thai rocking elephants. For
company travelers, the executive lounge is a spacious, modern room with white
walls, dark wood floors, huge windows, and plush furnishings in hues of cream,
gray, and eggshell. Cape House also offers meeting rooms for up to 10 people,
with a buffet table providing breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks, and coffee; there is no booking fee. A
smoking room is off to one side.
