Bottom Line

Billing itself as “The Living Place,” Buddacco
is a modern budget hotel located in the busy Pratunam neighborhood, which
hosts Bangkok's wholesale market. The 48 brightly colored rooms offer modern decor, safes, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs.
Oriental Rooms and the Executive Suite also have spa-style king-sized beds. A
free breakfast is served every morning in the on-site cafe, which offers light
international fare throughout the day but closes early. Though it's possible to find hotels with more features, such as a pool, at this price point, Budacco's convenient location and cheerful, contemporary style help make it a great value.

Scene

Modern decor in an affordable hotel suitable for both business and leisure travelers

Built in 2009, the Budacco is located at
the end of an enclosed alley full of shops, massage parlors, and cafes. The
exteriors are bright and modern, with glass doors leading to a contemporary lobby
in which guests are greeted with a glass of fruit punch and a cool
towel. A stark-white front desk contrasts with a bright pink accent wall decorated with stenciled flower designs. The white, minimalist theme continues
in common areas, and the hallways are almost completely white or off-white
save for pale lavender guest room doors and little patches of turquoise on
signs bearing room numbers. Smoking is allowed on two floors, and fortunately the
smells tend not to travel to non-smoking floors. The hotel attracts business
travelers and leisure tourists alike, especially those wanting something chic but
affordable.

Location

Located in bustling Pratunam, near shops, and a short drive to local attractions

The Budacco is located in the
busy shopping/wholesale district of Pratunam, at the end of an alley
and right by a 7-Eleven. For visitors with a more cultural disposition, the Jim
Thompson House, a museum that focuses on traditional Thai architecture, is a 15-
to 20-minute drive from the hotel while the bustling area of Khao San Road is
further to the west. The temples of Wat Pho, Wat Phra Kaew, and
Wat Arun are around 30 minutes away by car as well. Suvarnabhumi
Airport is less than a 25-minute drive east, barring traffic.

Rooms

There are 48 bright, colorful rooms with modern decor and free Wi-Fi -- some with spa-type beds

The Budacco offers three different types of
lodging: 41 Deluxe Rooms, six Oriental Rooms, and one Executive Suite. All come
with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, and safes. Deluxe
Rooms come in six different colors (purple, pink, blue, green, yellow, and
saffron) accented with wooden floors and stark white furniture. The six
Oriental Rooms are the same size as the Deluxe Rooms, but also come with
low-to-the-floor beds (the type used for traditional Thai massage) and offer more
windows. The Executive Suite is the size of two rooms put together and has pink decor,
a separate living area, and a similar bed to what's found in the Oriental
Suite. All rooms come with free breakfast for up to two guests. While smoking
is allowed in some rooms, the Executive Suite is non-smoking.

Features

Free breakfast at the cafe, laundry services, and sightseeing tours

There's
not much here in terms of amenities, although guests get a free breakfast every
morning in the bright Cafe de Budacco, just off the lobby. The cafe also serves
sandwiches, coffees, and pastas, although it closes in the early evening.
Laundry service is available and the hotel can arrange sightseeing tours for a
fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property as well.
