Bathrooms in guest rooms are tiny
The three-pearl Baiyoke Boutique Hotel
offers affordable and comfortable rooms and suites in a quiet section of the
otherwise busy Pratunam, a wholesale shopping district in the heart of Bangkok.
Rooms feature small flat-screen TVs and funky decor, and suites also come with
living areas. A breakfast room, coffee shop, spa, and large conference room are
on-site, but there’s no swimming pool or fitness center. The Cottage
Suvarnabhumi is a similar option that does have a pool, although it's a bit
further out of the city center than the Baiyoke.
Scene
Cheerful, affordable modern property sports a retro '60s vibe
Tucked away on a side street in the
otherwise busy Pratunam area, the entrance of the Baiyoke Boutique is
unassuming save for the brightly hued band of zebra print design running along
the side of the building. Inside, a bright, well-lit lobby with white floors
and accent walls in hues of saffron and marigold contribute to a modern,
cheerful ambiance. Hallways have a mix of flower-power wallpaper and purple
swirly accents on elevators, adding a swinging '60s vibe to the interiors. The property is a suitable choice for both business travelers and tourists thanks to its
central location and on-site conference facilities.
Location
In bustling Pratunam, a short drive from local attractions
Baiyoke Boutique Hotel is located in the
busy shopping/wholesale district of Pratunam, on a quiet street
behind the Baiyoke Sky Tower, the tallest building in the city. The Jim
Thompson House, a museum which focuses on traditional Thai architecture, is a
13-minute drive from the hotel while the hustle and bustle of Khao San Road can
be found further west. The temples of Wat Pho, Wat Phra Kaew, and
Wat Arun are around 20 to 25 minutes west by car as well. Suvarnabhumi Airport is about a 30-minute
drive east, barring traffic.
Rooms
Contemporary air-conditioned rooms and suites
Baiyoke Boutique Hotel offers two types of
lodging: Deluxe Rooms, which come in twin and double configurations, and
Boutique Suites. All units have air-conditioning, clock radios, mini-fridges,
kettles, and bathrobes. Deluxe Rooms have gray accent walls with black-and-white
leaf print designs, purple and burgundy striped carpets, plain white beds with
burgundy throws, and zebra-striped cushions. Bathrooms are tiny but have
shower/tub combos and lots of gray tile counter space. Boutique Suites have a
similar color scheme but feature wallpapered accents and separate living areas
with coffee tables and sofas delineated by stand-alone desks with tiny
flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms are marginally roomier than those found in Deluxe units, and suites also have small balconies with patio chairs and little round tables.
Wi-Fi is free for guests who book directly through the hotel.
