Baan Wanglang Riverside

This charming little boutique property has more of an authentic Thai vibe than many other mid-range hotels in the city. Its riverfront setting is surrounded by a local shopping market and residences, and that atmosphere translates to the hotel's interiors as well. Decor includes Thai-style wooden art pieces, sculptures, paintings, and photographs that remind guests of where they are. There are also places where guests can pause and take in magnificent views of the river and some of the city's most notable sights. The rooftop bar is especially popular for its panoramic river views. With its excellent location and reasonable rates, this place is popular with all types of tourists, including couples, families, groups, and individuals. 

This hotel is situated on the Chao Phraya River in the Wanglang area of Bangkok. It is a four-minute walk from lively Wanglang Market, known for its local street food, as well as clothing and other goods. The neighborhood is packed with plenty of action, including a convenience store, restaurants, historic temples, night markets, and street food stalls. However, it's not the most convenient for walking to tourist destinations. Two piers are within a short walk for taking the ferry to historic sights like The Grand Palace and Wat Pho, or to farther destinations like Chinatown and the flower market. The boat ride to The Grand Palace only takes five minutes. Suvarnabhumi Airport is about an hour's drive away, and travelers should budget the same amount of time to reach Don Mueang Airport.

Rooms and suites are decorated in an attractive Thai style with colonial touches that include traditional dark wood furniture, wooden floors, white linens, and beige and white walls. Red or plum accents and decorative pillows add a splash of color, and elegantly carved wooden panels hang above the beds. Superior Rooms come with king or twin beds. Standard features include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, safes, and kettles for tea and coffee. Some have mini-fridges. Small bathrooms feature open showers separated by shower curtains and wall-hung sinks. Hairdryers are provided and toiletries come in large eco-friendly bottles. Small balconies in Superior Rooms look out over the city, and two rooms have nice views of the river. Suites are larger and add separate sitting areas with two chairs and ottomans. Corner Suites have views of the river from two sides, and balconies are furnished with table-and-chair sets. The Panoramic Suite offers even more stunning views of the river, with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. Keep in mind that noise from both the river and nearby traffic can be an issue in some rooms. 

The most notable feature at this hotel is its riverfront setting, and the hotel showcases that setting in a number of ways. Dining options include a restaurant, cafe, and rooftop bar -- all with Chao Phraya views. N10Cafe serves baked goods and light fare in a lovely space with cafe seating indoors and outside. It's right on the river, making it a nice place to hang out and take in the impressive views. The hip 342 Bar on the rooftop serves cocktails and snacks, along with spectacular river views. Among the notable sights visible from the bar are The Grand Palace, the famed Wat Arun Temple (Temple of Dawn) and the Wat Phra Kaew (or Temple of the Emerald Buddha). On the second floor, the more upscale Tonmakok Restaurant serves Thai cuisine for lunch and dinner with seating indoors or out on the deck. Activities at the hotel include temple, bike, and boat tours. A meeting room with windows along one side is available for group gatherings, and an internet corner in the lobby provides a computer for guests to use. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
