Located a 30-minute drive northeast of
Downtown Baltimore in the suburb of White Marsh, this Hilton Garden Inn is
moderately stylish and reasonably priced. Highlights include an indoor pool, free
local shuttle, 24-hour fitness center, and an on-site restaurant and bar. The immediate

Scene

A moderately stylish chain hotel outside of Baltimore

Opened in 2000,
this Hilton Garden Inn doesn’t have much of a “wow” factor,
but it has all the basics for a comfortable -- albeit generic -- hotel stay.
The most stylish part of the property is the lobby and adjacent restaurant,
which are airy and pleasant, with high ceilings, potted plants, a gas fireplace,
and contemporary furniture in pastel shades of green and orange. The rooms are
unmemorable but there’s little to offend; they are
clean, spacious, and all the standard amenities are there. This hotel is on the large-side for a Hilton Garden Inn. It features a
decent-size indoor pool, fitness center, business center, small convenience
store, and 6,000 square feet of meeting space (weddings and business events are
frequently hosted in a 400-person ballroom).The hotel is a
bit too far outside Baltimore to appeal to city-goers, but a number of
corporate offices are nearby, so business travelers are common here.

Location

A 30-minute drive from Baltimore in a suburban strip-mall neighborhood

Situated right off I-95, this suburban Hilton Garden Inn is sandwiched
between a shopping mall, a strip mall, an IKEA, and a movie theater. The
concrete-filled White Marsh neighborhood is less than picturesque, but there
are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Corporate offices,
such as Comcast and MedStar, are also less than five minutes away. - 15-minute drive from Martin State Airport

  • 20-minute drive from Oriole Park at Camden Yards
  • 25-minute drive from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor
  • 26-minute drive from Baltimore Airport (BWI)

Rooms

Generic rooms with mini-fridges, microwaves, and Keurig coffeemakers

Last renovated in 2008, these rooms feature
run-of-the-mill decor in shades of beige, dark red, and pea green. Each is
furnished with white bedding, simple wooden furniture, framed photos of
foliage, and busy red carpeting. Rooms are fairly spacious and come with one
king or two double beds, a flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, microwave, Keurig
coffeemaker, and free Wi-Fi.  Suites sleeping up to six guests are
available and have sofa beds, separate sitting areas, and
two TVs. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available.

Features

This hotel has all the necessities -- pool, gym, restaurant, store, and business center.

This Hilton Garden Inn has a solid range of
amenities. The first floor is home to a modest 24-hour fitness center (with free weights, medicine balls, and only three cardio machines), a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, a 24-hour
business center, guest laundry room, and a 24-hour convenience store with
microwaveable dinners, wine, beer, and snacks. The lobby area also houses the
Garden Grille & Bar, which is open for breakfast (buffet and limited a la
carte options) and dinner. Other perks include free parking, room service
(limited hours), a free shuttle that runs within a five-mile radius (no late-night
service), and free passes to Bally Total Fitness, located next door.
