Bottom Line

Tijili Seminyak is a mid-range boutique property with unconventional style and a convenient location within walking distance of Seminyak Beach. Interiors at this design-focused hotel feature local artwork and quirky touches and there is free, fast Wi-Fi throughout. The 120 rooms have trendy, yet cozy, decor along with 40-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and rainfall showers (or copper slipper tubs) in nice, spacious bathrooms; some guests find the glass-door bathrooms lacking privacy. Features include a narrow outdoor pool lined with casual beanbag chairs, and in-room massage treatments. Scene

Trendy and colorful decor, local artwork, and a playful vibe

Tijili Seminyak has an unconventional design that begins with its slanted red-brick facade. Inside, lobby walls are made of differently shaped wooden blocks, some painted bright orange or blue, stacked high to the ceiling. An overhead sculpture has a '60s-mod feel, as do low-lying couches and coffee tables in muted blue and mustard shades. Locally made artwork is displayed throughout the hotel, such as on wall-mounted shelves topped with irregularly shaped pottery. Kakatua Tropical Lounge is the upbeat restaurant and bar where industrial pipes are softened by wire furniture and playful accents in shades of turquoise, pink, and yellow. Overall the decor and vibe come together for a fun, quirky setting that's particularly good for young couples or travelers with an eye for design.

Location

Quiet street in Drupadi, 10 minutes from the beach

The property is located in Drupadi, a quiet area near Seminyak Beach (within 10 minutes' walking distance). The hotel sits on a small street without a lot of traffic and is easily accessible, however most of Seminyak is easier to get around on motorbike or foot. The surrounding area is filled with other hotels and a few small, local stores and restaurants. This location is convenient for tourists who want to be close to the beach, where there are also lots more bars and restaurants. Kayu Aya Beach is a nine-minute drive or 17-minute walk away; the more bustling Kuta Beach is about 20 minutes' drive. Nearby sights include Pura Petitenget, a Balinese temple 11 minutes away by car. Ngurah Rai International Airport is a 20-to-25 minute drive from the property.

Rooms

Cozy rooms with handmade touches and beautiful bathrooms

Guest rooms are quiet, spacious, and somewhat dim, lit only by small spotlights here and there for a cozy feel. As with the common spaces, rooms feature unusual decor that combines handmade accents with sleek, modern furniture and pops of bright color. Even the robes and slippers are colorful and patterned. Some rooms have balconies, with views of the pool or the city. Junior Suites have king-size beds and extra work space for business travelers. In-room technology includes 40-inch flat-screen TVs with 60 channels, and free Wi-Fi. Each room has a mini-fridge, coffee-and-tea-making facilities, and 24-hour room service is available. Bathrooms are decorated with beautiful marble and mosaic tile and include spacious rainfall showers with clear glass doors, large bottles of bath products, and hairdryers. The Junior Suite has a beautiful copper slipper tub. Some guests might not like the partial-glass bathroom walls, which prevent total privacy.

Features

Buffet breakfast for a fee, and a cozy pool area

Features here are limited. The on-site restaurant, Kakatua Tropical Lounge, offers indoor as well as outdoor seating on a wooden deck facing the street. Buffet breakfast is available for a small fee and includes fresh tropical fruit. Dinner is also served and the bar has a wide range of cocktails and spirits. Food and drink are also served poolside. Tijili has a narrow outdoor pool surrounded by the building and a plant-lined wooden deck. Instead of traditional sunbeds, there are colorful beanbag chairs and a long turquoise couch. Wi-Fi is free and fast throughout the property. In-room spa services are also available, but there isn't a full spa. There is a small parking lot out front, with space for four cars and some motorbikes.
