The Widyas Luxury Villas is a boutique lower-middle-range hotel, located in Kerobokan on the outskirts of Seminyak. The location is far from most tourist attractions and downtown Seminyak, and the nearest beaches are around a 20-minute drive from the hotel. Eleven One- and two-bedroom villas are available and all feature pleasant interiors, private plunge pools, and elegant bathrooms with deep soaking tubs. The villas are pleasant, though show wear and tear and are starting to look dated. The facilities are limited to a functional lobby area, a restaurant, and a tiny spa facility. But freebies of breakfast, beach shuttle, airport transfers, and Wi-Fi are nice. Tony's Villas is a good alternative hotel, with a downtown Petitenget location, though not all the villas have private plunge pools.
Scene
A simple all-villa hotel with an indoor/outdoor restaurant
The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood far from downtown, and the immediate area is not particularly scenic. The setting is peaceful, and the villa compounds are secluded thanks to tall walls surrounding each unit. The restaurant is quiet most of the time as guests usually choose to have their breakfast delivered directly to their villas, and throughout the day most guests are out exploring. The lobby area is also often empty, but it has comfy green couches. The property is fairly small and there are no grounds apart from the villas themselves. Although the majority of the hotel's guests are couples, the two-bedroom villas are a good option for groups or families that need the extra space.
Location
In urban Kerobokan, a 20-minute drive from downtown Seminyak and the beach
The hotel is located far from most tourist hubs, on a small quiet laneway in an urban residential area in Kerobokan. The closest happening locales are Petitenget, Canggu, and Seminyak, which are all around a 20-minute drive from the hotel. Canggu has lots of dining and shopping options, plus some great beaches with excellent surfing waves. Petitenget features some excellent fine dining restaurants, as well as some popular beach clubs. Some of the most well known restaurants in Petitenget includ: Biku, Sarong, Metis, and Merah Putih. The most popular beach clubs are Potato Head beach club and W Bali. Seminyak's Eat Street, or Kayu Aya Street is packed with restaurants, bars, funky cafes, and boutique shops.
The most popular surf beaches in the area are Batu Bolong, Berawa, and Echo -- all are reachable within a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Tanah Lot is around a 35-minute drive from the hotel. The dramatic architecture, sunsets, and scenery make it a popular tourist attraction and one of Bali's most highly photographed temples. Guests should budget about 40 minutes when heading to the airport.
Rooms
Highly private villa compounds, with modern interiors, plunge pools, and elegant bathrooms with soaking bathtubs
Widyas Luxury Villas features contemporary one- and two-bedroom pool villas. The compounds are highly private, with tall walls surrounding each unit. Villas have elegant interiors, but are starting to look dated and past guests report maintenance issues. The overall look includes white ceramic floor tiles and light colored walls that are decorated with a couple of colorful paintings. The batik print bed runners and throw pillows add some color to the spaces. Furniture is mostly made from light colored wood veneer. Rooms are outfitted with canopy beds, comfy upholstered chairs, and spacious wardrobes. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, mini-fridges, kettles, and bottled water.
All villas feature private plunge pools and outdoor seating areas surrounded by tropical greenery. The Exclusive One-Bedroom Pool Villas are a decent upgrade from the smaller One-Bedroom Pool Villas, as Exclusive units feature more indoors and outdoor space, plus have larger plunge pools. The two-bedroom villas are two stories and feature living room areas with comfy couches. Kitchens are equipped with stovetop burners, full-size refrigerators, and microwaves. The bathrooms are clean and elegantly styled with dark-granite floor tiles, wood veneer vanities, porcelain sinks, large mirrors, large soaking bathtubs, and separate shower cubicles with rainfall showerheads. Hairdryers and toiletries are provided.
Features
Western and Asian restaurant, free breakfast, and a small spa
Since the villas are self-catering and have private pools, the communal facilities are few -- but there are some nice freebies. Above the hotel lobby is a small restaurant that serves affordably priced Asian and Western food. Breakfast is included in room packages and can be served either in the restaurant or directly to villas. Continental, American, and Indonesian breakfast options are available. The spa is located on the roof of the lobby in a small air-conditioned glass building, and it consists of two massage beds in a lovely room. The hotel's free one-way shuttle service operates twice a day to Seminyak and the beach. Airport pickup is included in bookings. There is plenty of on-site free parking. Wi-Fi is free throughout, though the connection is reportedly weak.
