Villas feature beautiful Balinese design, and are done in a mix of wood and marble, plus most have private pools and lovely outdoor spaces. Free breakfast is served almost all day, and valley views from the restaurant are spectacular. Views are also breath-taking from the outdoor infinity pool, and the spa is an elegant haven. Scene
Peaceful, elegant boutique resort with beautiful natural surroundings
This small boutique resort is nestled in a river valley outside Ubud and offers gorgeous views of the surrounding jungle, making this resort feel even farther away from Ubud than it actually is. The entrance sets the relaxed, rustic tone, with its high thatched roof, lovely greenery and flowers, stone statues, and an elaborately carved stone doorway. Inside, the expansive open-air lobby is much the same, with extensive stone, wood carvings, and rich wood columns. It's a lovely space, and guests can hang out there on the cushioned wicker chairs and take in the beauty all around. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful, with a feeling of authentic Balinese charm and refined polish. It attracts mostly couples, but families and groups of friends also make their way here to take advantage of the larger villas with private pools.
Location
In a peaceful valley near restaurants and attractions, but far from Ubud center
The hotel is situated on a main road in the Tjampuhan Valley overlooking the River Oos. It is within walking distance of a number of eateries, including Naughty Nuris, an iconic Balinese rib restaurant that has been around for several decades and is five minutes away on foot. The Neka Art Museum is also a five-minute walk from the hotel. The Blanco Renaissance Museum is about 15 minutes away on foot. It's a 10 minute-drive into downtown Ubud, though some guests choose to walk as the road is downhill and has nice sidewalks. The Ubud Palace, in the center of town, can be reached in about 30 minutes on foot. The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is also 10-minute drive south. Budget up to an hour and 15 minutes to reach Ngurah Rai International Airport by car, which is just outside of Kuta.
Rooms
Spacious, elegant villas, most have private pools and beautiful outdoor spaces
Spacious, elegant villas feature classic Balinese decor, with rich wood furniture, canopy beds, and ornate traditional wall hangings and bed coverings. They feel a bit more refined than some other villa properties in the area -- though in a classic way -- with creamy marble in-lay floors. Bamboo rugs and peaked bamboo ceilings bring a rustic atmosphere that's perfect for the jungle valley setting, while small details -- like brass urns and other objets d'art -- add a dash of personality. Most villas have a private pool and lovely furnished outdoor space with lush greenery and flowers highlighted by statues and carved stone. The valley views from many villas are excellent. Four two-story villas are suitable for families and groups. Amenities include air-conditioning, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms are handsome, with deep soaking tubs and huge separate showers, and they come with magnifying mirrors and upscale toiletries. For the ultimate splash, the spa villas also have whirlpool tubs and outdoor massage treatment spaces.
Features
Restaurant, two bars, outdoor infinity pool, spa, free yoga classes, and a library
Despite this resort's small stature, there are a number of fine features on offer here. Guests can start their day with a free breakfast and spectacular valley views at the two-level Terrace Restaurant. The breakfast offerings are numerous and include Western and Balinese dishes, and it's served until very late in the day for late risers. It can be taken in villas at no extra charge. A free afternoon tea service is popular with guests, and lunch and dinner are both available (as is 24-hour room service). There's also a bar and lounge, and three computers are set up there for guests to use.
Overlooking the Sayan ridge, the main infinity pool is breathtakingly gorgeous. It's surrounded by a narrow stone deck, and cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas invite poolside relaxing. Lush greenery covers the adjacent stone wall, and drinks and snacks are served at the pool bar. The beautiful spa has indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, hot and cold whirlpool baths, a sauna, steam room, and a small outdoor pool overlooking the valley. Yoga classes are free, and a library has books for guests to borrow.
Guests can use the facilities at this hotel's sister properties, Royal Pita Maha and Tjampuhan, with discounts available at both of those hotels' restaurants. A free shuttle runs to the center of town and airport transfers can be arranged for a fee. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the resort. A doctor is on call 24/7.
