Bottom Line

The Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa is a luxury family-friendly property located right on a quiet sandy beach in the Nusa Dua Peninsula, an area home to many other high-end resorts. Its 382 rooms are spacious, sunny and upscale, with plenty of traditional Balinese touches such as delicate wood carvings and flower designs, and furnished terraces, some with direct access to the lagoon pool. One of the best on-site perks is free access to a lovely spa complete with a serene outdoor pool, saunas, whirlpools, and steam rooms. There are also a fitness center featuring tennis and squash courts, two large pools, a kids’ club, and a diving center with free scuba diving lessons. Varied dining options range from casual Italian to Balinese fine dining, but food gets mixed reviews. Travelers looking to stay all-inclusive may want to compare rates at Melia Bali Indonesia, located just down the beach.

Scene

Luxury beachside resort with traditional interiors and lush grounds

Scene Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa

The Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa opened in 1983, which makes it one of the oldest resorts in the area. However, the hotel is still is great shape, with lovely tropical grounds, charming traditional Balinese interiors, and all the amenities and services expected of a luxury resort. The hotel is easily identifiable among the many hotels located in the area thanks to the striking original temple located right at the entrance. An intricately decorated stone gate (or "candi bentar," as these beautiful split doors are known in Bali) opens onto beautifully manicured tropical grounds with two lotus ponds, each with a small "bale" or pavilion. A stone path flanked by colorful flowers and tropical plants then leads to the lobby, housed in a striking open pavilion with two towers topped with traditional double pitched roofs. Inside, lovely wooden Balinese couches, richly adorned stone and wood carvings, and wooden ceilings lend the space a strong local character.

Grounds are lush and sprawling, with koi ponds, grass lawns, wild tropical areas full of flowers and bushes, and a couple of thatched pavilions. Rooms and suites are housed in long four-story buildings with dark pitched roofs and colorful flowers lining wooden balconies

Location

On Nusa Dua Beach, a short drive from Bali Collection mall

The hotel is located right on a sandy beach lined with other luxury resorts. There are several restaurants and shops within walking distance, but many more options can be found at Bali Collection, a large mall located a five-minute drive away to which the hotel offers free shuttle service several times a day. It’s a five-minute walk to Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, a 10-minute drive to the Water Blow, and famous Uluwatu Temple can be reached by car in about 45 minutes. Kuta and the airport are a 20-minute drive away.

Rooms

Sunny and elegant, with traditional Balinese touches, balconies, and upscale amenities

Rooms Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa

The Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa offers several room categories, including Deluxe, Family, Suites, and Palace Club units. All have elegant Balinese decor, with details such as wood carvings and flower designs in bed runners and headboards, wooden floors, and a soft neutral palette. Wooden furniture with clean lines give spaces a contemporary feel, while white walls decorated with wood panels or ornaments make rooms feel warm. Sliding wooden shutters (some decorated with rich carvings) open onto furnished balconies or terraces offering garden or pool views, and a few have steps leading directly to the lagoon-style pool.

In-room amenities include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, electric kettles, minibars, and safes. Club Rooms also feature DVD players. Deluxe Rooms have smallish bathrooms with rain walk-in showers only, but all other room types have separate tubs with sliding panels opening onto the bedroom. Palace Club Rooms offer access to a lounge with free drinks and food throughout the day, butler services, and private check-in and checkout.
