Bottom Line

This upscale resort is nestled on Jungut Batu beach, near restaurants and a 30-minute speedboat ride from Bali. Since most of the accommodation is located at the back, at first glance the resort looks like a restaurant with a beachfront infinity pool. The 37 attractive rooms and villas have modern furnishings with Balinese touches, and feature flat-screen TVs, minibars, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Most also come with private pools. The resort also has a pretty infinity pool overlooking the ocean, a spa and gym, and free water activities. As Nusa Lembongan island is still relatively undeveloped, this resort is a great option for travelers looking for upscale accommodation on the island. Families, however, may prefer the Lembongan Island Beach Villas, which has rooms with kitchens.

Scene

A beachfront resort with a mix of modern and Balinese decor

Embodying modern architectural design with Balinese touches, the Lembongan Beach Club and Resort is one of the more upscale accommodation options on the island. Picturesque walkways, fringed by verdant greenery, link the main hub with the villas, which can be around a five-minute walk away. The thatched roof restaurant and its earthy-hued wooden and rattan furnishings are a pleasant contrast to the crystal blue waters of the adjacent infinity pool and the ocean. The property draws families and groups, but the primary guests are couples seeking a quiet getaway. However, the pool is open to non-guests and some villas experience noise issues, which can detract from the peaceful vibe.

Location

Centrally located on Jungut Batu beach with a view of the Shipwrecks surf break

The resort sits along Jungut Batu beach on Nusa Lembongan, a quaint island around a 30-minute speedboat ride from the main land. Public speedboats to Nusa Lembongan also depart regularly from Sanur. The resort can organize transfers to and from the Ngurah Rai International Airport at an additional cost. The hotel overlooks the Shipwrecks surf break, a popular spot for surfers. The island is small, making all tourist attractions easily accessible, and the resort is within walking distance of a number of cafes and dive operators.

Rooms

Contemporary Balinese-themed villas, most with swimming pools

The resort’s 37 modern Balinese-style rooms and villas have been designed with locally sourced materials, and have a soothing neutral-tone palette with splashes of light green and blue. Deluxe Rooms have beige tile floors, while villas have wooden floors and vaulted thatched roofs. All have contemporary wooden furniture, white walls, plush linens, and sleek bathrooms with patterned tan-and-white tiles. Villas have lovely furnished outdoor spaces, and most have private pools.

All room categories feature flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and DVD players, tea- and coffee-making facilities, work desks, safes, minibars and free Wi-Fi. The resort offers free fruit baskets on arrival and two bottles of mineral water per day. The sleek bathrooms come with free toiletries, hairdryers, and rainfall showers. Villas add bathrobes, slippers, and additional toiletries.

On the downside, guests have complained that some villas are a five-minute walk from the restaurant, pool, and beach. However, rooms in close proximity to the restaurant, pool, and nearby road can experience noise. Buggies are available to ferry guests from the pool area to their villa. Note that there have been some complaints about maintenance issues.

Features

Beachfront infinity pool, restaurant serving free breakfast, and spa

The resort's crowning features is its location along the beach, with cushioned loungers and daybeds set back facing the water. Also adjacent to the ocean is a long infinity pool, which has a wooden deck lined with loungers, daybeds, and blue umbrellas. However, the resort allows non-guests to use the pool, sometimes resulting in a noisy atmosphere and lack of sufficient daybeds. The resort offers stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking for free, plus staff can arrange excursions including fishing and village tours.

The semi-open, stylish Kayu Manis Beachfront Restaurant, which is adjacent to the infinity pool, serves international and Asian dishes. All rates include a free breakfast, which receives mostly positive reviews for quality and variety. Free daily afternoon tea includes coffee, tea, canapes, and fruit. Also on-site, Tjendana Spa offers a wide range of treatments including Balinese massage, facials, and body scrubs, using local organic products. There is a small on-site gym that overlooks the pool area, outfitted with just a handful of machines and free weights. Wi-Fi free throughout the property.
