Bottom Line

The 122-room Legian Paradiso Hotel is a mid-range property located in the heart of Legian on a bustling main street lined with shops, restaurants, and bars. Rooms are spacious and clean, if a bit tired and dated, and outfitted with flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea/coffee facilities, and free Wi-Fi; plus, most have private balconies or patios overlooking the gardens or pool. There’s a restaurant serving local and international dishes that features live entertainment, as well as a relaxed sports bar screening games. The outdoor pool is surrounded by loungers and there’s a small pool bar, but constant music can be irritating and some guests have complained of rats around the area in the evenings. There’s also a spa and large fitness center on-site, as well as a playground for kids and two meeting rooms. Overall, this is an older property in need of a facelift, but travelers are drawn by the affordable rates. For something closer to the beach, travelers might want to consider the Kuta Playa Hotel & Villas.

Scene

This older hotel with traditional Balinese-style architecture has pretty green grounds, but it's in need of some updates.

Scene Legian Paradiso Hotel

The Legian Paradiso Hotel features typical Balinese-style architecture and interiors; guests are greeted in a spacious and breezy open-air lobby with a sloped, thatched roof and sleek tiled floors. Cream-colored couches are clustered around rustic wooden coffee tables and large potted plants flank stone columns. A huge wrought-iron traditional lighting fixture hangs at the center of the lobby, while the long, sleek front desk features intricately carved wooden details. The lobby is skirted in lush greenery and overlooks the grounds, which provide a nice, green backdrop to the neutral hues.

Outside, stone paths weave past grassy lawns, lush shrubbery, tropical plants, and trees. Pretty water features, like stone fountains speckled with lotus leaves and frog sculptures, dot the premises. Overall, this older property is a bit dated and in need of some revamps, plus the central location on Legian’s main street might not suit all tastes, but it is conveniently surrounded by restaurants, bars, and shops and within walking distance of the beach.

Location

The hotel's central location on a bustling main street is close to restaurants, shops, and nightlife.

The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Legian and situated on its main road, Legian Street, a bustling thoroughfare lined with restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. This highly-trafficked street might not suit all guests, however. The beach is under a 10-minute walk away, while Kuta Beach can be reached in about 10 minutes by car. Seminyak, with its beach and Seminyak Square, is about a 25- to 30-minute drive. Popular shopping destinations are a short drive away, including Discovery Shopping Mall (15-minute drive) and Beachwalk shopping center (20-minute drive). The Ngurah Rai International Airport can be reached in about 20 minutes by car.

Rooms

Spacious, dated rooms with modern amenities and private balconies or patios

Rooms Legian Paradiso Hotel

Rooms are fairly spacious and clean, with contemporary decor that includes black furnishings against cream-colored walls and white tile floors, though some of the furniture is a bit worn and rooms can look dated. Beige, patterned bed runners top white linens, while abstract art adorns the walls. All rooms have air-conditioning, work desks, flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, electronic safes, free bottled water, and free Wi-Fi. Most also have private balconies or patios overlooking the gardens or pool and furnished with chairs and tables. Suites have separate living rooms furnished with beige armchairs and couches paired with patterned accent pillows and black-and-white area rugs; plus, there are black dining tables. Bathrooms are covered in beige tiles and outfitted with shower/tub combos or walk-in showers. Some guests have complained about bathrooms smelling of sewage, however.

Features

Restaurant and sports bar, outdoor pool with bar, spa, large fitness center, and meeting rooms

Features Legian Paradiso Hotel

Bloody Sweet Restaurant serves both local and international dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant offers live entertainment and it has a relaxed sports bar that screens live games. There’s an outdoor pool with a bar surrounded by a sundeck lined with padded loungers and blue umbrellas, but loud poolside music can be irritating. There have been some reports of rats around the pool area as well.

The on-site spa offers a variety of treatments including massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures. There’s also a large fitness center equipped with a variety of machines. Business travelers are catered to with two meeting rooms, and Wi-Fi is free throughout, though service is reportedly spotty. The hotel also has a small kids’ playground.
