Dream Beach Huts is a small value hotel overlooking Dream Beach in the southern part of Lembongan island. The 28 huts here feature traditional thatched roofs and have dark-wood interiors that keep them cool, plus all have air-conditioning, terraces, and lovely outdoor bathrooms. However, in-room amenities are limited, with no hot water or TVs, much less coffee- and tea-making facilities or mini-fridges. Hotel facilities include a restaurant serving free buffet breakfast and a wide range of Indonesian and Western dishes that get mixed reviews from guests, a small gift shop, and a lovely, two-tiered infinity pool with fountain features. Just note that the property can get crowded, particularly by the pool, as day visitors are allowed to come use the facilities for a fee. For something quieter, consider Bay Shore Huts, which offers more extensive amenities.
Scene
Small but busy all-hut hotel with manicured lawns and ocean views; popular with couples and families
Popular with vacationing couples and families, this mid-range all-huts hotel that opened in 2016 is one of the livelier options in the area. At the front of the hotel is a noisy reception area where loud music blasts from a sound system, only somewhat muffling the sound of conversations from guests who congregate in the busy, open-air restaurant off to one side. Just beyond the restaurant is a small shop and a pool deck with ocean views, followed by the hotel's 28 thatched-roof huts, spread out in rows along manicured gardens filled with stone pathways and lots of greenery, with a row of huts at the front of the property offering lovely views out over the ocean. Overall, the resort is compact and easy to get around, without a lot of stairs, but it can get noisy and busy during the day, especially as outside visitors can come and use the facilities here by paying a day fee.
Location
On Dream Beach in the southern part of the island, a 10-minute drive from the speedboats at Mushroom Bay
As the name suggests, Dream Beach Huts is located overlooking the white sands and turquoise waters of Dream Beach on the southern coast of western Lembongan. The area doesn't have a ton within walking distance beyond other hotels and a few restaurants, though the Devil's Tear water caves are about a five-minute walk away. There are more restaurants and shops about a 15-minute drive north of the hotel, while Mushroom Bay, where there are speedboats to Sanur on Bali island, is a 10-minute drive or motorbike ride from the huts.
Rooms
Air-conditioned huts with dark interiors and pretty outdoor bathrooms, but limited amenities and no hot water
This property offers tiny 12-square-meter (129-square-foot) Standard and Deluxe Huts with either Ocean or Garden views (Deluxe unites add large covered porches on the bottom floor with hammocks and floor mats for lounging). Two-story Family Huts (with twin bedrooms and second double beds upstairs), and a 25-square-meter (280-square-foot) Family House with two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, are also available. All are simple and rustic, and feature dark, hut-like decor with wood walls and ceilings, bamboo beds dressed with mosquito nets, and sit-out areas with tables and chairs. Windows are limited, which helps keep the spaces cool, but some guests find them too dark.
All units are air-conditioned and have free Wi-Fi, but no TVs. Note that rooms also lack coffee- and tea-making facilities and mini-fridges, but small bottles of mineral water are provided. Outdoor bathrooms (with high walls for privacy) are a nice touch, and all come with big, open showers, vessel sinks, and lighting, plus guests can lock the main living areas for additional security. However, note that bathrooms lack hot water.
Features
Lovely beach area with good swimming, two-tiered infinity pool that can get crowded, and restaurant with free breakfast
The highlight of this property is that it sits right on Dream Beach, an aptly named stretch of white sands with turquoise waters. Although there are some waves here, the surf is not nearly as rough as what's commonly found on the main island of Bali and it's suitable for swimming; guests should just remember to bring towels to lay down if they want to sunbathe as there are no lounge chairs here. There's also a sea-facing pool at the hotel with an infinity-edge main section with fountain features and a smaller upper section that's more suitable for wading. It's surrounded by a wooden deck with lounge chairs with parasols, though it is on the small side and it can get crowded, especially as the hotel allows non-guests to come use the on-site facilities for a nominal day fee.
Other hotel features include a spa offering massages and other treatments, as well as a shaded restaurant that looks out right on the sea with a good mix of shaded and open dining spaces and a free, simple buffet breakfast with hot and cold fare. Food and drinks are available for purchase, including western and Indonesian dishes, but the food quality gets mixed reviews from guests. There's also a shop selling everything from sundries to fireworks. Free hotel-wide Wi-Fi and a small area out front with a beach-facing swing where guests can park motorbikes are available.
